Perhaps some additional information, rather than one isolated tweet can add to the topic? Why would we expect all South Asians to agree with Jagmeet Singh? That Jagmeet Singh can make a decision on an issue without siding with a relative is a good thing, is it not? No nepotism there! The MAJORITY of South Asian truckers do NOT support the protest. They are the ones busy working.

What a surprise this was.

After Singh’s b-i-l withdrew his financial support of 15G (optics problem?) to trucker protest, I thought he’d go quiet forevermore.

Good to see someone in family has morals and spine.
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

Jagmeet has morals and a spine. They may not, however, align with yours or mine. I may not agree with all his political views, but I believe him to generally be a good person.

That won't happen. Ideological leftists need their own political territory and while I am a crossover voter between the Liberals and the NDP, I recognise that the Liberal Party, in spite of the ridiculous insistence from some quarters that they're "further left than the NDP!", is far to the right of the federal NDP, indeed, they're to the right of me and I'm a lefty-centrist. Any official marriage between the two parties would be as much of a disaster as the Reform/PC fiasco. If it did happen there would be a lot of sad right wingers though, since over half of the votes in the last election were cast for the Liberals or the NDP. The CPC might never actually govern again if the left and centre were united.
Looking at votes in the House of Commons lately ndp constantly voting with the liberals. Membership in ndp can’t be happy there leader is backing the criminal JT.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

I notice reference after reference to the latest conspiracy theory that the far right is promoting - the WEF conspiracy theory.

If we want our politicians to behave as rational adults, and I assume that cuts across partisan lines, then the hyperbole and the conspiracy theories have to get toned down and put away. Otherwise it is just irrational partisanship and silos of misinformation.

We saw Trudeau assume the convoy was all far right agitators, when in fact the make up was much broader. We all know what assume does.

We see CPC pols going all hyperbolic, supporting what was clearly an illegal occupation and blockades and egging them on. Now we have a CPC Senator calling the residents of Ottawa "Karen's" and going right off the deep end to the point where he having to make a formal apology.

The interim leader of the CPC called for the convoy to leave and go home, although too late. The convoy "leaders" said nope, we ain't movin' as they stuck to their anti-democratic attempt to overthrow the government.

Make no mistake, the "leaders" that hijacked the concerns of some cross border truckers transformed a genuine concern that deserves hearing into an attempted coup. The worst of the worst within the far right were starting to gather as we saw at the Coutts crossing, where it is alleged that heavily armed far right activists (one of whom who is entirely estranged from his own family due to going down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole) were conspiring to murder RCMP.

Jagmeet has expressed the desire to have the emergencies act be in place for as short a period of time as possible, while with a considered approach supporting its current use.

Yes there will be legal challenges - and that's a good thing. It will bring clarity to an act that has never before been used. It may also point out where improvements need to be made.

Our parliament has become so partisan that reasonable debate falls by the wayside. All sides so busy trying to "score points" that rational debate disappears in a cloud of schoolyard finger pointing. This is NOT what we elect them to do.

Jagmeet is doing his best to be an adult in the room, while the schoolyard nonsense swirls about him.
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

Until this vote, I might have believed you. But his insistence on giving man-made climate change scum more rights than others just reaffirms that he is a gutless fool and a total loser.

Not sure where you've been for the past few days, but the police are aware and on the scene.
Now comes the truth.
How will the courts handle these terrorists whose actions the NDP condone.

Naw, folks I have spoken to, that are actual NDP voters are perfectly happy with supporting the Liberals on recent events. Also they know how minority governments work and it’s not in their interest to bring down the government. Seems like the vast majority of Trudeau haters are CPC faithful and this sudden assumption that what they think weighs on the NDP leader is novel.

Exactly. Does Jagmeet understand that he could end up in the cell next to Justin by being complicit in this blatant fascism?

So they are all still there then? Should be easy to identify and arrest. In assuming there are some factors to why the province and city have declared an emergency over it and requested assistance?

He promised his party would ensure Trudeau and the Liberals do not abuse the power they now have - yet I cannot recall even a single instance of Singh and the NDP holding Trudeau and the Liberals accountable for abusing the powers of the PMO after the fact, never mind preventing it from happening in the first place.

I can recall scolding, yes - crocodile tears, yes. No forcing Trudeau to be accountable for ethics abuses, or anything else, though.

So pardon us if we find his assurances provide us with no comfort or confidence whatsoever.
