Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

"something much more disgusting"? :200:

Please don't leave us hanging.
I'm posting this from Traditional lands of the British Empire & the current Lands of The Dominion of Canada.
I also give thanks for this ethos richness bestowed on us via British Colonialism.

You asked so don't be surprised when you see the reason this custom started centuries ago before embalming became popular.

The tradition of laying flowers on top of the coffin started centuries ago. When people died flowers were brought in to lie around the bodies to help prevent the smell of the decaying body.

That's really neat! I read a book on how civilization happened, and the people who became civilized (as in creating agriculture etc) were the ones with grains in their area that a) contained the most nutrients and b) domesticatable livestock. Apparently, not all livestock is easily domesticatable, and not all grains are nutritionally equal. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/184 ... _and_Steel
