But don't people always complain about the COST of something? Considering that nuclear is the most expensive generation method now won't people react to that since they've shown they don't really care about the environment?
Ummm... isn't there a cost to ALL the criteria mentioned!? why are heads stuck with capital costs!?... land use costs, mining costs, recycling costs, operating costs, etc., etc.....
Right. France much be really rich to be 80% nuclear. I suppose the renewables industry will never figure it out, that after their equipment has been replaced 4 times over, nuclear equipment is still running reliably and providing cheap electricity for customers.

So what happens to the nuclear waste?
France produces more nuclear waste per-capita than any other country. With almost 72 percent of its electricity coming from nuclear energy—the most in the world—it generates 2 kilograms of radioactive waste per person each year. :200:

Nuclear waste can be recycled for existing reactors. Newer generation reactors will recycle waste even further. A whole new wave of nuclear reactors will make France the cleanest country on earth by 2050. Every other country is just pretending with wind and solar. This allows France to be the worlds largest exporter of electric power.

^^^ LOL

They should use EVs to transport nuclear waste.

The latest EV disaster where a Tesla lost power, locked the driver in the vehicle, started saying "error error error", and started on fire. The driver kicked-out the window in order to get to safety.

again ev catch fire at a rate of 25 per 100 000 while ice cars are over 1000 per 100,00 that is a diff of over 400 percent that a ice car will catch fire over a ev car. everyone with a cell phone has a lithium batt and they are fine just like ev batts.

Tesla Reddit is suggesting it's a possible 12V modification problem. But obviously no facts yet.

How about all these ICEV recalls.
Narrowing down to All makes and their model years 2020 - 2023 and getting bored with the quantity so this is from now back to April 1 and picking out those that mention fire and not commercial trucks or RV's where there are many recalls.

Tesla is not a recommended pick by Consumers Reports. There is not much to pick from for average performing EVs. When it comes down to it, mandates are asking people to choose between a few vehicle designs that are not recommended, poor range and charge times, and cost an arm and a leg more. Certainly there are recalls on every vehicle, although EVs tend to get more de-bombify recalls, or recalls where 1/2 of the vehicle needs replacing. The EV market is so poor, it is like mandating condoms with holes.
The electric-car maker [Tesla] placed No. 23 out of 32 brands on the 2021 list, down seven spots from the year before, Consumer Reports said Thursday.
According to J.D. Power, Tesla vehicles had an average of 176 mechanical faults per 100, compared to 121 for the industry. They ranked tesla 30th out of 33 brands featured in a J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Survey released last year - Jan 13, 2022

Luckily I don't own a Tesla. Nor would I. Too rich for my blood.
I'm not sure I've ever been much of a fan of those aggregated review/opinion lists. Particularly CR with their history of cooking the books as it were.

As for EV's... as I've said before here, there are several models in the $45K range and a couple <$40k. Who is deciding on a vehicle "design"? That's in the eye of the beholder. Define poor range? I got from Aldergrove to Naramata in one shot a couple weeks ago in my Bolt. Charge times, sure, that will always be non-EV owners bugbear until they start using one. It's a non-issue. You can plug in at home. You can plug in at public chargers. For travel you have to stop and stretch and eat and bio. You just work with the plan. Yes I know some people will pound out 3/4 of a day with the fueling time and eating on the road. I don't. Price, sure, they should be much less. But rebates and such certainly do help. But yes they should be starting in $20's tops.
De-bombify? Way way far far more ICEV's ignite per capita than EV's. A battery pack is not half the vehicle...exaggerate much.

Oh yeah...the Tesla guy earlier...seems he didn't know how to use the manual door opener. RTFM.

One of the nice things that I've heard from PHEV owners is the fact that they don't need to use gas most of the time ... they just charge up each night ... I don't see any problem using the grid for vehicle energy though I know some like to claim the sky will fall if everyone goes to electric ... though that argument is pretty useless since it won't happen overnight and since that is so the requirements can be managed ...

Not to mention the same folks complaining about ev ruinng all their fun [icon_lol2.gif] are the same bragging about how much electricity site c is going to produce . They cant have it both ways so they should settle on one or remain hypocrites

Do you think that might be due to the percentage of the market driving ICE vs EV?
