So far in 2022, fossil fuel stocks have seen significant gains while renewable energy stocks have suffered as investors shun growth stocks in favor of value companies.

I read the whole article which says renewables will out pace oil n gas sooner than later.

Oil is finite too...but I'm sure we'll kill ourselves before we wean ourselves off of it if the right wingers has any say in our future.captkirkcanada wrote: ↑May 17th, 2022, 8:30 am I read the whole article which says renewables will out pace oil n gas sooner than later.

We all are going to learn something new right now .
Turns out photons can live in the infrared zone and someone figured out how to make a solar panel to use them photons to make power at (are you ready) Night .

eu now has a plan to be using renewables at 45 percent by 2030, 8 years away.

solar houses make more energy than they use at a high latitude than most of Canadas population lives at

The homes are almost completely powered by rooftop solar panels, and on-site batteries store unused energy that can be sold back to the grid. Additionally, the buildings’ energy consumption is measured on an ongoing basis to adjust for power needs.
Each two-story, 1,600-square-foot structure is composed of six factory-built modules that arrived on-site with finished interiors. Once erected, the facades were connected together to smooth over transitional moments between the homes. Four houses face east-west, while six have a north-south orientation—and all of the roofs are topped with solar panels angled toward the path of the sun.

Canadians should expect more extreme weather this summer, says Global News’ chief meteorologist, after a fast-moving storm resulted in 10 deaths in Ontario and Quebec over the long weekend.
“We’re definitely going to see more thunderstorms throughout the summer,” Anthony Farnell said Tuesday. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we have a more active than normal severe weather season, from the Prairies all the way to the east coast.”

Once the middle class is taxed into poverty, we are still only 1% of the way toward climate change goals.

The energy crisis in Australia caused by the shutdown of coal and higher dependence on renewables and foreign energy are taking a toll. It is so bad, smaller electric suppliers are asking their customers to leave as they go out of business. No one wants to pay $1.04 per kWh. That'll make charging your EV more expensive.
Now that Australia has turned to a new leftist green government, we will watch them enter energy poverty worse than before, higher prices, less competitiveness, higher stupidity. This will eventually run it's course with a disaster.

Hurricane Activity Close To Lowest On Record In Last Year
If global warming is suppose to increase hurricane activity, the data does not show this while news outlets are saying the activity will be above average. The last 12 months we've seen very low hurricane activity in terms of frequency and strength.

Record-breaking Atlantic hurricane season draws to an end
https://www.noaa.gov/media-release/reco ... aws-to-endThe extremely active 2020 Atlantic hurricane season is drawing to a close with a record-breaking 30 named storms and 11 landfalling storms in the continental United States. While the official hurricane season concludes on November 30, tropical storms may continue to develop past that day.
NOAA’s seasonal hurricane outlooks accurately predicted a high likelihood of an above-normal season with a strong possibility of it being extremely active. In total, the 2020 season produced 30 named storms (top winds of 39 mph or greater), of which 14 became hurricanes (top winds of 74 mph or greater), including seven major hurricanes (top winds of 111 mph or greater). This is the most storms on record, surpassing the 28 from 2005, and the second-highest number of hurricanes on record.
Sure looks like globally the trend is going up.....

2022 Accumulated Cyclone Energy [ACE]
The number of storms have little to do with storm intensity. Not to mention, counting global occurrences is pretty dubious going back to the 1800's don't you think? 1913 had only one global storm/hurricane?

Except the storms in 2020 were more intense and frequent then the record breaking year of 2005....and this is from your link.....Jlabute wrote: ↑May 31st, 2022, 11:36 am 2022 Accumulated Cyclone Energy [ACE]

Here's a bonus link.....While this statement focuses on the Atlantic Ocean basin, much of the information can be applied to the other ocean basins in a general sense. We present the most up-to-date information on how climate change is expected to impact hurricanes in the future. There are two complementary lines of evidence used to diagnose climate change effects upon hurricanes including (1) historical records of observed activity and (2) computer modeling. Many scientists have dedicated their careers to improve the understanding of hurricanes and published countless papers that help inform the scientific consensus: From the NOAA GFDL website (Link) : "In summary, it is premature to conclude with high confidence that increasing atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations from human activities have had a detectable impact on Atlantic basin hurricane activity, although increasing greenhouse gases are strongly linked to global warming... Human activities may have already caused other changes in tropical cyclone activity that are not yet detectable due to the small magnitude of these changes compared to estimated natural variability, or due to observational limitations."
Regardless of the scientific ability to conclude confidently in every impact of climate change on hurricanes, they will continue to occur and devastate rapidly growing coastal regions. The only proven and practical way to prevent loss of life and property damage is to prepare ahead with improved building codes and maintain a high level of vigilance and resilience in the face of natural disasters. This includes more accurate intensity and track forecasting through advanced numerical weather prediction or weather models.
Note that lack of evidence does NOT mean absence of evidence. It means we currently have incomplete knowledge or inadequate methods and/or observations. We can still have medium to high confidence in an expected outcome based upon fundamental understanding of physics and fluids.
