I think you have a skewed idea of towers and where there should be buit and where they should NOT be built. How's the Cherry Lane demolition for the tower, you prognosticated, going?

Nice try Jag. If I said 3 to 5 years....oh well. we are still not even past 4 years. The reality is that the Mall model is done, especially in a Penticton sized market. The rents and common area costs are way too prohibitive for any retail business to compete with the per square foot cost of a six or eight or more tower for residential use. And can you say the area does not have a more important need for housing demand vs retail space demand. As Pinhead Joe Biden would say..."c'mon man".

Edit to add- Have you seen the food court lately?? More empty than rented

At a public hearing Monday night, just one person stood to speak, and they were in favour.

"This is a classic case of compromise," remarked Coun. James Miller.

"It appears as though the neighbourhood's more than happy and content, and it seems reasonably priced and Penticton definitely needs housing stock so I'm very happy to vote for it at this time."
The other proposals were just wrong. Period. This is what should have been proposed in the first place.
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

Is pinhead talking about housing developments or choice of marriage partner? Shoot for the Penthouse and be happy to end up with second floor near the elevator and away from the stairwell.

More like a corner room on the 4th floor with partial lake view.
But our opinions are regarding development of towers, their locations and their timelines are very different.

Just for the record, I am not a proponent of high rise housing for anyone except a kid free couple or seniors past that part of their life. Kids that are raised in high density housing tend to be less well adapted for some surprising reason....have a lower outcome of success. Go figger.
So what have we got now. Eco warriors demanding we reduce our carbon "footprint"..... in the holy grail craft of climate saviors, that instead create low carbon foot print high density housings that is not conducive to being a good spot to raise children and have a positive family unit.
IMO, I believe better outcomes for our children come from less densely populated social housing experiments and more positive outcomes arrive from those old fashioned neighborhoods than where our social planners want to mold us into.
Best thing that could happen right now would be a stealth termination of |George Soros.
