If Kelowna had Municipal parties like Vancouver did... :200:
AS for the OCP etc. How many citizens actually complete the surveys? The survey for the Parkinson Rec Centre/Community Campus is wrapping up. How many have completed that?

I'm glad that Ryan Donn has said he won't be seeking re-election now which is well ahead of the October 15 Elections as this gives others who might be considering running time to present their ideas & have voters get to know them ?

I feel there should be a 3 month advance notice that requires the present Mayor & Council to say if they are planning to run in the next Civic Election & not leave voters guessing ?

Kelowna is a big City & it needs serious leadership, so this October 15th. get your butts over to the polling stations & make that difference.

I love living in Kelowna and give a lot of credit to our city leaders for making it a great place to live. I'd gladly again vote for the majority of current councilors and Mayor Basran.

ONLY if you are a developer or associated to any of them. These developers are the main reason all of our property taxes climb at the % rates they have YEARLY under this deadbeat, low IQ"d city council.

A complete eradication of 8 of the 9 of them is in order or else it will get much worse year after year...... :digging:

How so many of the low numbered voters here cannot see past this facade of incompetence for so long is beyond me.

We have had many very distinguished civic leaders in this communities history and they are the ones who made Kelowna such a great place to live, not the ones presently taking things in the opposite direction.
I've lived here for quite a long time and can say the present edition of Council is the weakest I have ever seen.

Even the Old Gray Mayor had one or two endearing qualities (and a pair) while Mayor Sugarplum is nothing short of an embarrassment.

It's time for some(lots?) of new blood at the helm.

It really is time to clean out the Augean Stables that City Hall has become. This Council is completely lacking in any imagination and is just not competent to manage the issues facing this community. For this to occur, the citizens of Kelowna need to get engaged, understand the issues and really question the candidates on where they stand…,
  • Typically only 1 in 3 eligible voters get off their complacent backsides and go to the polls: this seriously favours the incumbents.
People don’t understand that you do not have to place votes for every Council position; only vote for those candidates that represent your values and concerns.
Attend all candidate meetings and ask hard questions; don’t be satisfied with platitudes.
Generally people don’t understand that their municipal government has more impact on the quality of their daily lives than the senior levels…so please get engaged and vote!

Hmmm...JamesKay4Kelowna.ca. Anyone who puts the number 4 in their campaign is highly suspect as being influenced by the business and development community such as what happened a few elections ago with the HIGHLY promoted "Four Change" group. :200:

Yeah, we had to suffer through years under another Gray ... I still regularly say hello to Sharon and bug her about coming back

I agree that all candidates - new and incumbents - should have to formally declare 3 months ahead of the election. This last minute « Will I, Won’t I - allows for too much game playing on the part of those trying to stack Council in favour of their self interests. Candidates should have to formally declare and include the specific values they espouse on the key issues facing the City.
