It's an ongoing trait with these Liberals: lie, lie some more to say you didn't lie, toss in some word salad, get outed in a public inquiry, but since there's a new scandal/new case of pm covid/new experienced it differently/new corruption/new prorogation the public has something else to worry about.

But this one is problematic. People aren't forgiving politicians who dance on dead bodies for political gain.

Well, its an opinion, I don't believe it for one second though. The shooter had several handguns, one was a constables Smith and Wesson issued service pistol, NOT a weapon of war.
Withholding the firearms was because all, except one,(taken from a constable) were illegally obtained/purchased and the RCMP were working with forces in the US to determine the chain of ownership of the weapons used.
Releasing the information might hamper the investigation of the said weapons.

Firearms used: The note confirms that Gabriel Wortman – who did not have a firearms licence or acquisition certificate – had a “Colt Law Enforcement Carbine,” a semi-automatic rifle, a Glock GmbH semi-automatic pistol and a Ruger P89 semi-automatic pistol. He was also found with the service weapon of RCMP Const. Heidi Stevenson, who he murdered during the rampage.

Again, none were weapons of war.
This was an extremely tragic event and need not have happened if Wortman could not obtain firearms illegally brought into Canada from the US.
The investigation/enquiry will shed some light and all really hope lessons will be told and this event will not happen again.

^^^ The lack of confidence that Canadians now have in the ability of Parliamentary committees to investigate these egregious, undemocratic abuses of power is a sad commentary on how Justin Trudeau has screwed over this country.

FIRST READING: Official denials on the Lucki affair don’t seem to be working

Phase one of the Lucki affair has now ended: Everyone involved has denied that anything bad happened.

Former Public Safety Minister Bill Blair told a Wednesday scrum “I made no effort to pressure the RCMP to interfere in any way with their investigation.” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau interrupted an official visit to Rwanda to say that his government “did not put any undue influence or pressure” on the Nova Scotia RCMP. And RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki herself issued a lengthy statement saying she “did not interfere” and “would never take actions” to jeopardize an investigation.

But the denials have not stopped Lucki and Blair from being called to explain themselves in front of a parliamentary hearing. The interim days have also seen a flood of new information contradicting the government’s position.

At the core of the scandal is the allegation that Lucki pressed for the release of sensitive information that risked “jeopardizing” the investigation into Canada’s worst-ever mass shooting. What’s more, she allegedly did it as a favour to the Trudeau government, who were looking to use the tragedy as leverage for a sweeping gun ban.

The revelations were made public this month by the Mass Casualty Commission, the federal inquiry looking into the April 2020 massacre in Nova Scotia that killed 22 people.

Specifically, the Commission released the handwritten notes of RCMP Superintendent Darren Campbell detailing a tense April 28 meeting in which Lucki had tried to compel local investigators to release specifics about the guns used in the massacres – despite being told that such information could “jeopardize” an FBI investigation into the guns’ origins (three of the four firearms possessed by the shooter were smuggled in from the United States).

As Campbell relates it, this explanation just made Lucki “upset.”

^^^

JWR was abused by Trudeau the same as he abused Lucki.

The difference was that JWR defied him and pushed back. Lucki acquiesced.

Watching Lucki under examination by Parliamentarians gives me the impression that she isn't as strong willed as a person in her position needs to be when faced with politicians. Sure, she was able to thrash the bejesus out of her subordinates by virtue of her rank, but she seemed meek under questioning by others. I can see how Trudeau and his gang of PMO mafia could intimidate her.

She could be a willing lackey. It seemed to me Trudeau appointed Lucki in part because of her gender, despite his protestations to the contrary:
"Lucki has made it her mission to serve the public. She's known for being a hard worker, a dedicated officer and as someone who is constantly looking for ways to improve the status quo," Trudeau said, adding Lucki is "absolutely the best person for the job, who just happens to be a woman."

The prime minister said Lucki will play a vital role in advancing reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, promoting gender equality, addressing workplace harassment and protecting the civil liberties of Canadians.

How's all that working out for us? I'd say Lucki seems to be working out better for Trudeau.

^^^ I'd still like to know if that relationship to Bill Morneau was rumour or fact. Like, it seems too remote to be "made up."

Could be "married to a sixth cousin twice removed" or something similarly immaterial.

More likely he simply saw her as suitably malleable and beholden to him.
