Justin and Drunk Bill are lying, that's quite obvious to all.
Trudeau can't be taken at his word on Brenda Lucki scandal

In trying to protect themselves from the latest turmoil to engulf the Trudeau government, the prime minister and his emergencies minister are offering explanations that defy both logic and the evidence on hand.

Assertions by Justin Trudeau and the minister, Bill Blair, have inconsistencies that negate their credibility. They don’t withstand close examination. And neither man can be conceded the benefit of the doubt.

snip

If Lucki invented the story about her promise to Trudeau and Blair, then used it to berate subordinates, she can’t possibly deserve the prime minister’s confidence. And if she’s telling the truth, that she was under intense pressure to do the Liberals a political favour, then Trudeau and Blair are lying when they deny having pressured her.

snip

The list of questions about Ottawa’s actions is growing. The inquiry into the shootings wants to know why the Department of Justice withheld four pages — out of 2,000 — that contained Campbell’s notes. A spokesperson said the department wanted to check whether the pages were “privileged” — a favoured device used by Trudeau’s people to avoid meeting demands for information. Can it be entirely coincidental that the very pages containing the material most likely to embarrass Trudeau were the only ones to require “further assessment” and kept secret for months by a government ministry?

The prime minister has twice been cited for ethics violations. A litany of snafus have raised repeated doubts about his judgement. He showed in the SNC/Lavalin scandal a willingness to interfere in legal matters that are meant to be protected from political intrusions. The result is that he can’t be accorded the benefit of the doubt when he proclaims himself innocent of questionable actions like those he’s once again being accused of. Justin Trudeau can’t be taken at his word. He might have once have deserved an assumption of good faith. But not for quite some time now.

Kelly McParland: Trudeau can't be taken at his word on Brenda Lucki scandal

In trying to protect themselves from the latest turmoil to engulf the Trudeau government, the prime minister and his emergencies minister are offering explanations that defy both logic and the evidence on hand.

Assertions by Justin Trudeau and the minister, Bill Blair, have inconsistencies that negate their credibility. They don’t withstand close examination. And neither man can be conceded the benefit of the doubt.

The case in question is the shambles of an inquiry into the mass shooting in Nova Scotia in 2020, in which 22 people died. Leaked evidence indicates Trudeau and Blair cynically sought to exploit the tragedy for their own political benefit, by pressuring RCMP commissioner Brenda Lucki to release details about the weapons used. The Liberals evidently hoped to use that information to justify an attention-getting firearms policy that might not have done much to stem the use of such weapons, but would have looked like they were doing something.

The leaked memo originated with Supt. Darren Campbell, a senior Mountie who was part of a conference call with Lucki in the wake of the shooting. Campbell’s detailed notes on the call indicate Lucki was upset that specifics on the weapons hadn’t been released. She “said that she had promised the Minister of Public Safety and the Prime Minister’s Office that the RCMP (we) would release this information,” and “accused us (me) of disrespecting her by not following her instructions.”

Blair, who was public safety minister at the time, insists the allegation is untrue. He says he did nothing to interfere in the Mounties’ investigation. Initially he sought to discredit Campbell, claiming “the superintendent obviously came to his own conclusions and his notes reflect that,” then backtracked when Campbell attracted a wave of support from fellow officers and RCMP brass. “I am not in any way questioning the integrity or the honesty of the superintendent,” he told the House of Commons, saying he accepts assurances Campbell is an “exemplary police officer and a man of integrity.”

But how can Blair believe Campbell is an exemplary officer of outstanding ability, yet also that he’s so careless he somehow imagined hearing Lucki make a very specific statement, and wrote it down in detail in his notes? If Campbell made it up, he obviously should be fired. If he didn’t — if Lucki did indeed promise Blair and Trudeau to get them the weapons list — Blair’s whole defence falls apart.

So.....not getting your way is egregious? The system not following the intended path is abuse? The commentary is sad - because a false perception isn't adopted? WOW. That is the gold standard of victimhood. I am surprised conservatives can pull themselves out of bed in the morning and face the day. The sky is falling mentality must be a huge weight. I recommend counselling. Or a happy pride parade celebration. Then conservatives can turn that frown upside down. And learn to loosen up. You know....like people who are appalled about the denigration of Trudeau and Singh should do when the Canadian heartland attacks them - lighten up and not take things to heart so much. Just wait - and when your preferred choice can win an election - then the world can be shaped in your image. Until then - don't be a drama queen.

Let's watch committee, I think you'll find that the Liberals will obstruct. As usual. Your comment makes it very obvious that you have never watched any committee in the last seven years.

For those who suggested Campbell was lying about pressure coming from Lucki due to pressure on her coming from higher up:
A scathing letter from an RCMP communications manager released today says RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki referred to direct pressure from the federal public safety minister to release firearm details in the days after the Nova Scotia mass shooting.

The letter from Lia Scanlan dated April 14, 2021 — almost a year after the killings of 22 people — claims the RCMP's leader was focused on the Liberal government's agenda of passing firearms legislation when she criticized Halifax staff during an April 28, 2020 conference call.

SNIP
According to Scanlan, who was the strategic communications director at the time of the shootings, Lucki had come on the line incensed that the Halifax staff hadn't released the gun details, suggesting they had let down surviving children whose parents were killed.

Scanlan wrote that Lucki had informed those present during the meeting that she faced "pressures and conversation with Minister (Bill) Blair, which we clearly understood was related to the upcoming passing of the gun legislation."

The manager says in the letter she recalled "a feeling of disgust as I realized this was the catalyst for the conversation and perhaps a justification for what you were saying about us."

This is definitely a huge something burger. I predict Lucki will be looking at the underside of the Trudeau bus before too long.

Yup. The PMO is already playing the "who do we stab in the back to get out of this mess" game. It always ends up being one of the "strong independent women" that idiot boy Justin claims to admire so much who get run over and kicked out to once again save his extremely stupid behind. Rinse and repeat.

Exactly.

Trudeau will do his best wriggle out of it. Doesn't seem to matter to him who he squashes in the process.

I expect he will get Kovid, again. Or, maybe update that very old and unfashionable disease with a case of Monkey Pox

Just one after the other, after the other.

Scandals and cover-ups are the modus operandi of this filthy, rotten to core, diseased gov’t.

How long before even the stalwarts defending this rot finally see the light? Or, do they turn away from light as worms do?

So you're asking me choose whether to believe a retired RCMP superintendent and officers who has nothing to gain, or a liberal government who has been embroiled in scandal after scandal such as WE and SNC-Lavalin?

At this point I trust gas station sushi more than the Liberals.
