Re: Growing/sharing/learning to garden: 2022
Oh, lovely! I've tried a Himalayan Blue poppy a few times; twice from plants and once bought seed. Plants failed, seeds never sprouted - even though I had the help of the amazing Bpeep on that last one.

It was cool enough that last night I was able to finish the landscape fabric on the back fence bed and put plants back in the front walkway bed since the mud-jacking got done. Now I am hoping there will be no adverse effects on the plants I roughed around.

Amazing Gray is stunningly lovely. Himalayan Blue….same here. Tried from seed, got nothing. Has anyone here seen them in real life as I think they are a hoax started by Tibetans fooling with us.

^ ha, like black tulips. First year they were black, then turned to a dark purple
I bought a bunch of black bushes for the last house, they didn't do well.. either planted wrong spots or they disliked the heat
I am going to order the Amazing gray seeds... maybe just spread them on the creekbank and see what happens

Thanks so much Norma. I wonder if the gray will finally give us a blue poppy?

After trying the Himalayan Blue that had instruction requirements a mile long and impossible to achieve, I really hope those Grays take in our soils.
Is it too late to plant this year, I wonder….should I freeze seed until spring?
You can be sweet as marshmallows, Norma, and this is it!

Re: Growing/sharing/learning to garden: 2022
LadyT, I really like the ruffled pink poppy, terrific.
But now, as an experienced, jaundiced and untrusting gardener of the hype about plants and seeds, I wonder how many of us did put the cash down, ran to plant in our gardens the Hope Diamond, only to find it didn’t grow…grew, but had no relationship to the photo and write-up alongside, as in wrong colour, height, longevity and survival requirements.
I am pretty sure that I’m not the only one who purchased a pig in the poke to find later that the jewel was truly a swine.

Yeah, I've given up on buying irises from Vesey's. The two blue ones I bought are purple instead :/
