Biden’s Tougher Tone on Abortion Rights Is a Welcome Change

The undoing of Roe v. Wade didn’t just remove civil rights protections from millions of women. It also exacerbated rifts within the American left over the appropriate response to right-wing radicalism.

Despite having had nearly two months since Justice Samuel Alito’s draft was first leaked to anticipate the ultraconservative Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe, Democratic leadership seemed to be caught unprepared. Congressional Democrats were widely mocked for singing “God Bless America” on the Capitol steps to celebrate modest gun control legislation, even as abortion protests raged across the street at the Supreme Court. The White House poured cold water on any suggestions to expand the Court, rebutting progressives like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and even Democratic moderates like New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

The Democratic response to Roe from the top remained muddled and confused for days. On June 27, three days after the Court ruled in Dobbs, House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Vice President Kamala Harris were not on the same page about whether to support a filibuster exception to codify abortion rights, with Pelosi supporting the move and Harris insisting that the votes weren’t there to make it happen.

It took three days after that—almost a week after the Dobbs ruling—for President Joe Biden to state under pressure that he would support a filibuster carve-out to codify abortion rights. Then it began to emerge that the White House had planned to nominate an anti-choice Republican as a federal judge on the day the Dobbs decision dropped, in an apparent deal with Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell to exchange a lifetime judicial appointment for temporary U.S. attorney positions. The bizarre accord seems to have only been scuttled by inconvenient timing, but it nonetheless infuriated Democrats.

SNIP

It is no accident that when Democratic governors like California’s Gavin Newsom and Illinois’s J. B. Pritzker took the fight directly to Republicans; they were rewarded with good press and speculation about possible presidential runs—even as Biden faced negative headlines like the one at Politico: “Be Absolutely Furious: Dems Want More from Biden After Highland Park.” Yes, Newsom and Pritzker are blue state governors, while Biden is president of a purple country. But the leadership’s approach isn’t working, given Biden’s and Harris’s less-than-stellar approval ratings.

Fortunately, the White House’s political team may be coming around. Biden’s emotional July 8 speech announcing aggressive executive orders to protect abortion rights struck a much more combative tone.

If Beltway Democratic leadership can channel the sentiments of Democratic governors and voters, it will have a better shot of success in the midterms and, more importantly, in the fight for democracy itself.

Seriously, why even bother trying to defend Biden? What a giant waste of energy. He's a lame-duck president, who is just going to tread water now until the Dems dump his senile butt in 2024.

Speaking of which, this must have Leftist Jew-hating heads exploding everywhere right now...
Biden shakes hands with Netanyahu after WH vowed he'd avoid the action on Mideast trip
Biden is scheduled to meet with Israeli, Palestinian and Saudi Arabian leaders this week

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan announced Wednesday that due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, President Biden would not be shaking hands with anyone during this week's Middle East trip.

Not long afterwards, though, Biden met former Israeli Prime Ministar Bibi Netanyahu, and shook hands with him.

Sullivan had discussed the policy while addressing reporters aboard Air Force One prior to the president's arrival in Israel, the first stop on the trip.

"I think just the simplest way for me to put it is that we're in a phase of the pandemic right now where we're looking to increase masking, reduce contact, to minimize spread," Sullivan said.

While Sullivan acknowledged that "how exactly that plays out in any given interaction is something that we will see," the general no-contact policy is a shift in protocol given that the president had participated in hand-shaking sessions with people at the White House during the past two days.

US willing to kill Iran deal to keep IRGC on ‘terror’ list: Biden

President Joe Biden has pledged to keep Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on the US “terrorism” list even if it leads to the demise of the nuclear deal with Tehran.

In an interview with Israel’s Channel 12 – pre-taped in Washington and aired on Wednesday during the first day of his visit to the Middle East – Biden was asked, “Are you committed to keep the IRGC on the ‘foreign terrorist organization’ list, even if that means that it kills the deal?”

He answered with a simple, “Yes.”

Biden’s comments come amid a renewed push to revive indirect talks between Washington and Tehran to restore the agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), after a recent round of negotiations in Qatar.

The 2015 multilateral pact, which was nixed by former US President Donald Trump, saw Iran scale back its nuclear programme in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions on its economy.

Tehran has been advancing its nuclear programme since 2018 in response to a “maximum pressure” campaign of sanctions by Trump that the Biden administration continues to enforce.

The US and Iran have held numerous rounds of negotiations since April 2021, and a deal appeared within sight earlier this year, but Washington’s refusal to remove the IRGC from its “terror” list has been reported to be a major hurdle in the effort to reseal the agreement.

The Trump administration blacklisted the IRGC in 2019. It was the first time a military branch of a foreign government was added to the US Department of State’s list of “foreign terrorist organizations” (FTO).

Top US officials have acknowledged that the “terror” label does not have major practical implications on the IRGC. But the Biden administration has faced pressure from some lawmakers in Congress – including members from Biden’s own Democratic Party – to keep the group on the FTO list.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told lawmakers in April that blacklisting the IRGC had a minimal impact on the organisation. “As a practical matter, the designation does not really gain you much because there are myriad other sanctions on the IRGC,” Blinken said.

In his interview with Israeli television, Biden reiterated that he will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. Tehran has denied pursuing one.

In response to a question on whether he would use force against Iran to prevent it from acquiring a nuclear weapon, Biden said, “If that was the last resort, yes.”

US officials have said Washington is still committed to reviving the JCPOA based on a return to mutual compliance, while warning that the window to salvage an agreement is closing as Tehran acquires irreversible nuclear expertise.

Jill Biden's 'breakfast tacos' remark was not a gaffe. It was intentional and will drive Latinos to the GOP
First lady Jill Biden's comments at her Texas speech on Monday were disrespectful and insulting to Hispanics

First lady Jill Biden traveled to one of the most populous Hispanic communities in America on Monday to tell Latinos that all we are good for is our breakfast tacos and bodegas.

Mrs. Biden’s inflammatory and offensive rhetoric about Hispanic diversity in San Antonio, Texas, was not a gaffe. It is another example of the Biden administration’s insensitive, bullying and politically divisive attacks on minorities in America.

The White House rigorously reviews and scrutinizes all public remarks prepared for the president and first lady. Yet Biden’s protectors in the left-wing media say that the words Jill read from a Teleprompter "didn’t come out correctly."

Let’s set the record straight: Jill’s rehearsed speech was out of touch, insulting and derogatory towards Hispanics. The problem is even deeper than just her words. It starts with the fact that she spoke at the LatinX incluXion luncheon. The vast majority of Hispanics reject the term "LatinX." Yet the Democrats insist on forcing their language doctrine on the Hispanic community. What will come next? LatinX Hispanic Heritage Month?

The first lady is a lifelong educator and teaches a writing class at a Virginia community college. Her husband Joe fawned over the English professor in their Vogue cover story for laboring over important speeches and grading student papers.

A White House spokesperson issued an apology on Jill’s behalf following Breakfast Taco-Gate. Latinos won’t fall for a half-hearted one sentence mea culpa tweeted out from her press secretary when Jill herself drafted and delivered the insult-ridden speech.

I like that - "Breakfast Taco Gate" - hilarious. Just when you thought the Bidens and their handlers couldn't get any dumber, they go and get even dumber. Just wow.

I was wondering when senile flatulent Joe was asked about the polls, whether he was deliberately lying, or was just totally delusional. I am leaning now towards delusional. I honestly don't think that the people around him are letting him know just how bad things are for both the US and for his presidency right now. He is just living in a bubble, where he ends up sleeping and napping most of the time, oblivious to all of the massive problems that he is facing, a lot of them caused by their own bad policy.
Biden is 92% out of touch with reality

President Joe Biden responded to a reporter on Tuesday regarding whether or not Democratic voters want him to run for reelection in 2024, and his response reveals how aware he is of voters' confidence in him as president.

Getting quite defensive, Biden quickly stated that 92% of voters wanted him to run again in the presidential election. From where he got that number, no one knows.

"They want me to run," Biden said. "Read the poll. Read the polls, Jack. You guys are all the same. That poll showed that 92% of Democrats, if I ran, would vote for me."

But Biden is taking that poll grossly out of context. Yes, 92% of Democratic voters said they would pick Biden if he were to run against former President Donald Trump again, but a majority of Democrats hope that Biden isn't their nominee. In fact, an astounding 94% of Democratic voters under the age of 30 want someone other than Biden on the ballot.

Since Biden's approval rating is 33%, it is not hard to see that Americans, even Democrats, want someone new. According to a New York Times/Siena College poll, 64% of voters would prefer the Democratic Party to nominate a different candidate.

Democrats have attempted to downplay this decline in confidence from voters.

"You know, there's going to be many polls," White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. "They are going to go up, and they are going to go down. This is not the thing that we are solely focused on."

But if the administration is not focused on regaining Democratic voters' confidence, then what is it focused on?

As the 2024 presidential election approaches, Democrats are going to realize that hiding behind the claim, "We are a better option than Trump," won't work for long if they appear to be driving the economy into the ground. The Biden administration needs to stop comparing itself to Trump and start fixing things.

The reality is that people are not satisfied with the Biden administration. It is simply naive to think that the majority of people want Biden to run for reelection in 2024 — certainly not 92% of them. It's nothing new, but it goes to show how far removed Biden is from the public if he thinks they love him that much.

Biden meets with Israeli leaders, with focus on Iran and Saudi Arabia

President Joe Biden said Thursday that he still sees a diplomatic path to ensuring Iran doesn’t obtain a nuclear weapon, a contrast to the view of Israel's interim leader.

"I continue to believe that diplomacy is the best way to achieve this outcome and will continue to work with Israel to counter other threats from Iran throughout the region," Biden said at a news conference.

But Israel's caretaker prime minister, Yair Lapid, who shared the stage with Biden, took a much stronger position on Iran, saying that nation must know "if they continue to deceive the world, they will pay a heavy price."

"Words will not stop them, Mr. President. Diplomacy will not stop them. The only thing that will stop Iran is knowing that if they continue to develop their nuclear program, the free world will use force. The only way to stop them is to put a credible military threat on the table," Lapid said.

During his two-day visit to Israel, Biden has sought to show a united front with Israel while reaffirming U.S. support for the Jewish state's security. Shortly before the news conference, the two leaders signed a joint declaration pledging never to allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.

But the exchange highlighted the divides under the surface between the United States and one of its closest allies over how to deal with Iran's growing nuclear threat.

The Biden administration has spent more than a year trying to revive an agreement scrapped by the Trump administration aimed at preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Talks have been largely stalled since March about re-entering the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

"We have laid out for the people, for the leadership of Iran, what we're willing to accept to get back into the JCPOA. We're waiting for their response," Biden said. "When that will come, I'm not certain, but we are not going to wait forever."

Joe the senile idiot is just a gaffe machine. "The honor of the Holocaust" - yikes - only the most militant extreme Leftists would ever talk like that. This guy is ridiculous.
Biden makes Holocaust gaffe during Israel visit
President Biden later visited the Yad Vashem memorial to honor Holocaust victims

President Joe Biden, visiting Israel on Wednesday, added yet another entry to his long list of gaffes, mistakenly saying we must keep alive the "honor of the Holocaust."

The president made the flub shortly after touching down in Israel, kicking off a two-day visit with the Middle Eastern country’s leaders.

"Later today, I will once more return to the hallowed ground of … Yad Vashem to honor the 6 million Jewish lives that were stolen in a genocide and continue — which we must do every, every day — continue to bear witness, to keep alive the truth and honor of the Holocaust — horror of the Holocaust — honor those we lost, so that we never, ever forget that lesson, you know, and to continue our shared, unending work to fight the poison of anti-Semitism wherever it raises its ugly head," Biden said.

great work you idiot.
You cancelled the keystone pipeline as nothing more than a political move to achieve vote's from all those that confuse planning for a green transition while at the same time protecting, the much needed energy source to the people and the well being of the countries economy. Never planned or thought about the dangers of making decision's based solely on virtue signaling as your principal reasoning of policy. Never once imaged the extremely dependant position you would leave the countries people in.
No one said we couldn't address climate change. No one said we wouldn't all expect to move in that direction.
But what you did was ignore the most important part of making a decision, the understanding of the possible effects caused by not addressing the factors that could, were at play.
You handed the transport of oil through our country to 2 of the richest people on earth via their railroads all because it achieved their money for your party and bought the votes from many that now suffer.
Now your heading to Saudi Arabia to beg foreigners to increase production of the exact very same you yourself cancelled.
These new style governments that do not accomplish anything except virtue signalling to the people, are the ones responsible for so much carnage.
At no time would that pipeline caused us to use more oil. Kept us from moving forward. What it would have cost is these losers to have had to rely on actual formulated plans of wisdom for the better of our countries.

Biden's approval ratings hit all-time lows in CNBC poll

Anew CNBC poll, conducted by the same polling firms that helm the NBC News poll, finds President Joe Biden’s overall approval rating sinking to 36% among all adults, while his approval rating for handling the economy has fallen to 30% — both all-time lows for the president in CNBC polling.

What’s more, Biden’s ratings are lower than the worst scores ever for Donald Trump (37% job rating, 41% economic handling) or Barack Obama (41% job rating, 37% economic handling) during the entire course of their presidencies, according to both the CNBC and NBC surveys.

The new CNBC poll also shows just 11% of Americans believing the economy is either “excellent” (1%) or “good” (10%), compared with a combined 88% who say it’s “only fair” (30%) or “poor” (58%).

Additionally, 22% say the economy will get better in the next year, another 22% say it will stay the same and 52% think it will get worse.

These rough numbers for Biden — as well as pessimistic attitudes about the economy — come as the U.S. economy continues to add hundreds of thousands of jobs each month, plus as the unemployment rate has declined below 4.0%. But they also come as inflation increased by 9.1% over the past year, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

GOLDBERG: Examining the reasons why Joe Biden is failing

President Joe Biden is in deep trouble.

A New York Times-Siena College poll released Monday is just the latest survey showing profound discontent with the president and the direction of the country. His job-approval rating is a mere 33%.

More than six in 10 Democrats want someone else in their party to run for president in 2024. Only 13% of Americans think the nation is on the right track.

Where did Biden go wrong?

There are a lot of theories about why he’s in such a political mess. My own is that they’re all correct to one extent or another. His predicament is what social scientists call an “overdetermined” phenomenon. Something is overdetermined when there’s more than one plausible explanation for the cause of it.

For example, Biden’s poll numbers started to drop after his calamitous decision to withdraw from Afghanistan.

Then again, high inflation, especially energy prices, are poison for any president, particularly one who was so tardy to take it seriously. He betrayed his “return to normalcy” mandate when he decided to “go big” in a partisan pursuit of a new New Deal.
