I do! Also remember Eddy’s matches. A mainstay in every home way back when.
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

Re: Vintage, Antique and other Useless Junk
some guys here could probably post their underwear :/
I tossed a bunch of old stuff - I don't think I have a vintage piece of anything
Unless the 90s count as vintage, then I have a pair of earrings

Re: Vintage, Antique and other Useless Junk
When I was younger I didn't understand the appeal of "old stuff".
But as I've grown I'm finding it to be comforting, it anchors me to a different place and time. I have nostalgia at times, for a time I never knew. It would be hard to give up the now and all the comforts thereof, but sometimes I long for simpler times.

We have several antiques in our Dining Room.
The table and chairs are over 100 years old. We have 2 Buffets that are pushing that as well as a White sewing maching cabinet.
Similar to a singer treadle cabinet.

My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?

Re: Vintage, Antique and other Useless Junk
Next up, an old family Bible.
First few pages, with nothing on them, are tattered but the rest is in great shape.
Unfortunately no one in the family signed it so that leaves them as being a bit meaningless as far as my family is concerned. So I doubt if I will keep it.
It's 13" high, 5" thick and weighs 13 pounds.
It appears it was published in the late 1880s.

Bsuds, we also have a White sewing machine. Singers seem to be a dime a dozen, but Whites, not so common.
Here's ours.

And a close-up.
I have my mother to thank for most of these items. My father kept very little, including his war medals which he burned.

Our cabinet is in a bit better shape than yours but we have no machine. Keep looking for one.

I agree.
I often wonder what became of the gigantic Icelandic Bible from maternal side. I can only hope that whoever grabbed it didn’t chuck it out.

Re: Vintage, Antique and other Useless Junk
Here's another one I dug out after our move.
A Kinfolks hunting knife. It appears to be what the US Army was purchasing in 1942, if this site is correct.
Looks identical. "Kinfolks" is stamped on the blade and the sheath.
Blade is 6" long, overall length is 11.5".
https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums ... lks-knife/
There is an additional strap I added to keep it secure. While working in the bush especially in my early years I packed it everywhere. Killed a lot of devils club with it.
One question for the experts, I need to polish up the blade. Any suggestions.

That is really cool, bb49!
My oldest knife is probably this one - it belonged to my mom's elderly neighbour. When she (neighbour) went into assisted living she gave it to her for me - was part of her gardening kit. It's pretty enough that I think I may see about cleaning it up. It's Sheffield.

Not an expert, however get some steel wool in several degrees of courseness.
Bit of light oil and start with course and after a while work yourself down to fine.
I have put a shine on a couple of my old chopping axes that way.
