MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan flips out on President Biden for saying 'pandemic is over'
Biden, during the '60 Minutes' interview, was also asked if he would run for re-election in 2024

Mehdi Hasan, host of MSNBC's "The Mehdi Hasan Show," reacted to a clip of President Biden saying during an interview with CBS News' Scott Pelley that the COVID-19 "pandemic is over."

"One of the (many) reasons they’re not wearing masks is because people like Biden keep (falsely) telling them the pandemic is over," Hasan tweeted in response to the "60 Minutes" interview with Biden.

Pelley asked the president if the COVID-19 pandemic was over while walking through the Detroit Auto show.

"The pandemic is over. We still have a problem with COVID. We're still doing a lot of work on it," Biden said. "If you notice, no one's wearing a mask, everybody seems to be in pretty good shape and so I think it's changing, and this is a perfect example of it."

Biden says abducted American Mark Frerichs will be home soon after deal with Taliban

President Joe Biden said Monday that the U.S. has secured the release of Mark Frerichs, an American contractor and Navy veteran abducted more than two years ago in Afghanistan.

Biden said in a statement that he had spoken to Frerichs' sister and said that Frerichs, who was said to be in stable health, would be home soon.

Frerichs was freed after the Biden administration struck a deal with the Taliban that allowed imprisoned drug lord and Taliban ally Haji Bashir Noorzai to return to Afghanistan. Noorzai revealed during a press conference in Kabul that he was part of a prisoner swap for an unnamed American, whom U.S. officials later identified as Frerichs.

Noorzai was in U.S. custody for 17 years, following a conviction by a New York court for drug trafficking. In his statement confirming that Frerichs had been released, Biden indirectly acknowledged that the deal involved granting clemency to Noorzai, a member of the Taliban who was sentenced to life in prison for heroin importation, including trafficking large quantities into the United States.

"Bringing the negotiations that led to Mark’s freedom to a successful resolution required difficult decisions, which I did not take lightly," Biden said. "Our priority now is to make sure Mark receives a healthy and safe return and is given the space and time he needs to transition back into society."

Biden's effort to free to secure Frerichs' release was complicated by several factors, including the U.S. withdrawal of military forces from Afghanistan that preceded the Taliban-takeover of the country last year. The Taliban abducted Frerichs, a civilian contractor from Illinois, in January 2020.

The Biden administration does not recognize the Taliban as a governmental authority. A senior U.S. official said Monday that it told the group that a better relationship could not be had until Frerichs was released from custody.

The exchange is one of the most significant prisoner swaps to take place under the Biden administration, coming five months after a separate deal with Russia that resulted in the release of Marine veteran Trevor Reed. It took place despite concerns from his family and other advocates that the U.S. military departure from Afghanistan, and the collapse of the government there, could make it harder to bring him home and could deflect attention away from his imprisonment.

Martha's Vineyard resident to Biden administration: 'Tell the truth'

Martha's Vineyard resident Elizabeth Bostrom spoke with Fox News contributor Sara Carter about migrants being flown to her town and how the Biden administration is handling immigration on "Hannity."

ELIZABETH BOSTROM: No, I wasn't. And I actually, I really praised him for doing that because it wasn't a stunt. I know the media's been saying it's a stunt, but, you know, how do you get the attention of the administration? How do you get the attention of Harris, who's supposed to be in charge of this?

EL PASO MAYOR SAYS CITY'S GOAL IS TO HELP BUS MIGRANTS TO THEIR DESTINATIONS, TREAT THEM LIKE HUMAN BEINGS

It's really a joke and everyone knows it. Tell the truth. I don't believe anything that comes out the administration anymore.

East Coast Democrats have no clue how bad Biden’s border crisis really is

It took less than 48 hours for the wealthy residents of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, to deport 50 immigrants off their island, but the many communities overwhelmed by President Joe Biden’s border crisis don’t have such an option.

Back in May, the mayor of Yuma, Arizona, begged the Biden administration to stop busing immigrants to his small town of 97,000. “A good policy would be that [U.S. Customs and Border Protection] does not release into communities under a million people. There's an infrastructure need that kind of naturally occurs at about a million people. And underneath that, it's disproportionately impacted local communities,” Mayor Doug Nicholls, a Republican, told the Washington Examiner.

Biden ignored him and just kept sending more immigrants, without warning, to his city.

Now the city of Yuma is facing a $20 million healthcare bill on top of untold other housing and food bills.

“You have mayors from Washington, D.C., and New York City that are complaining about a couple of thousand people over three or four months — we're seeing those numbers monthly or even weekly,” Nicholls told reporters. “If those few thousand people are having an impact, imagine the impact of over 200,000 people.”

Biden says U.S. would defend Taiwan against Chinese invasion

President Joe Biden says U.S. forces would defend Taiwan if China tries to invade the self-ruled island claimed by Beijing as part of its territory, adding to displays of official American support for the island democracy.

Biden said "yes" when asked during an interview broadcast Sunday on CBS News's 60 Minutes program whether "U.S. forces, U.S. men and women would defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion."

Asked to comment, a White House spokesperson said U.S. policy toward Taiwan had not changed. That policy says Washington wants to see Taiwan's status resolved peacefully but doesn't say whether U.S. forces might be sent in response to a Chinese attack.

"The president has said this before, including in Tokyo earlier this year. He also made clear then that our Taiwan policy hasn't changed. That remains true," the spokesperson said.

Tension is rising following efforts by Chinese President Xi Jinping's government to intimidate Taiwan by firing missiles into the nearby sea and flying fighter jets nearby amid visits to Taipei by political figures including U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Taiwan's foreign ministry on Monday expressed "sincere gratitude" to Biden for "affirming the U.S. government's rock-solid promise of security to Taiwan."

Taiwan will "resist authoritarian expansion and aggression" and "deepen the close security partnership" with Washington and other governments "with similar thinking" to protect regional stability, the statement said.

Washington is obligated by federal law to see that Taiwan has the means to defend itself but doesn't say whether U.S. forces would be sent. The United States has no formal relations with the island but maintains informal diplomatic ties.

Taiwan and China split in 1949 after a civil war that ended with the Communist Party in control of the mainland. The two governments say they are one country but dispute which is entitled to be the national leader.

Beijing criticizes official foreign contact with Taiwan's elected government as encouragement to make its de facto independence permanent, a step the mainland says would lead to war.

Washington says it doesn't support formal independence for Taiwan, a stance Biden repeated in the interview broadcast Sunday.

"Taiwan makes their own judgments about their independence," the president said. "We're not encouraging their being independent."

In May, Biden said "yes" when asked at a news conference in Tokyo whether he was willing to get involved militarily to defend Taiwan if China invaded.

Biden to rally leaders against Russia’s ‘naked aggression’ in UN speech

President Biden will call on world leaders to stand up against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine during his remarks to the United Nations General Assembly.

Biden will address the international body on Wednesday as he seeks to rally support to push back against Russia amid Ukraine’s recent gains on the battlefield.

“Among other things, he’ll offer a firm rebuke of Russia’s unjust war in Ukraine and make a call to the world to continue to stand against the naked aggression that we’ve seen the past several months,” national security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters on Tuesday.

“The main thrust of his presentation will really be about the United Nations charter. About the foundational principle at the heart of that charter, that countries cannot conquer their neighbors by force,” Sullivan added.

Biden will address the United Nations General Assembly while facing an international crisis for a second consecutive year. Last year, Biden arrived in New York City roughly a month after the U.S. pulled its forces out of Afghanistan in a chaotic withdrawal.

This year, Biden will speak at a critical juncture in the war in Ukraine, with Ukrainian forces making advances in counteroffensives and putting Russian President Vladimir Putin on the defensive.

Sullivan noted that neither Putin nor Chinese President Xi Jinping will be in New York for the meetings. Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov is expected to be in attendance.

“Our competitors are facing increasingly strong headwinds and neither President Xi nor President Putin are even showing up,” he said.

Sullivan added that the Ukrainian military’s recent counteroffensive “will feature prominently in his speech.”

The meetings in New York come amid successful counteroffensives from the Ukrainian military, which has recently regained thousands of miles of territory in the country’s northeast and forced thousands of Russian troops to retreat.

Building support for Ukraine at the U.N. could prove difficult for Biden, as many members have either been sympathetic to Russia or antagonistic toward the United States. Russia sits on the U.N. Security Council, and as a result has the ability to thwart efforts to hold Moscow accountable.

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro in his speech at the U.N. on Tuesday criticized the economic impact of Western sanctions, but did not mention Russia in his remarks.

In the annual speech, Biden will also lay out his vision for American foreign policy and principal leadership, Sullivan said.

Joe Biden forced to wait for seat after apparent late arrival at Queen’s funeral
US president and first lady had to wait as procession of George and Victoria Cross-holders went ahead of them

He may be the world’s most powerful man but the apparent late arrival of the US president, Joe Biden, and his wife, Jill, was not allowed to disrupt the finely tuned choreography of the late Queen’s funeral.

Rather than being ushered immediately to their seats on their arrival at Westminster Abbey, the first couple, aged 79 and 71, had to be gently told they would need to stand and wait as a procession of George and Victoria Cross-holders went ahead of them down the nave of the abbey.

After an awkward period of small talk at the main entrance, as those awarded the highest decorations of military valour went ahead, the Bidens finally followed in the wake of Victoria Cross-holder Colour Sergeant Johnson Beharry, pushing the wheelchair of Keith Payne VC, 89.

The US president had been given a dispensation to make his journey to the abbey in the “the Beast”, a heavily armoured limousine used by US presidents for security reasons, rather than be bussed to the abbey with the other heads of state and government.

Camera footage shared on social media showed that the Bidens had made slow progress through central London, even being momentarily forced to stop outside a Pret a Manger on Oxford Street.

After arriving hand in hand, the Bidens finally sat down in their places in the abbey at 10.05am. The schedule published by Buckingham Palace suggested the 500 invited dignitaries should have been seated between 9.35am and 9.55am.

Perhaps as a consequence of opting out of the buses taking other leaders from the assembly point at Royal Hospital Chelsea, the Bidens were also given seats 14 rows back in the south transept of the abbey.

The US president took his seat behind Andrzej Duda, the president of Poland, and in front of Petr Fiala, the prime minister of the Czech Republic. Sitting to her husband’s left, Jill Biden sat next to Ignazio Cassis, the president of Switzerland.

The special treatment demanded by the White House was by some way not the most significant diplomatic difficulty facing the earl marshal, the Duke of Norfolk, who was in charge of planning the funeral.

I saw that sequence happen and like most of us, had to chuckle. Those Brits showed the Bidens a thing or two about etiquette, such as ‘be on time’ . Serves them right.

You're never too old to be taught a lesson. "Show up on time, or have to deal with the consequences". I can just imagine what would have been the world headlines if President Trump had shown up late for the funeral - all the MSM would have been consumed with how "disrespectful" he and Melania were not being on time. Instead, flatulent brain-dead Joe shows up late, and nary a mention. It's just so pathetic.

Biden gets lost walking off stage after UN speech

Joe Biden, 79, faced yet another public embarrassment Wednesday evening when he appeared to get lost while walking off stage following his remarks at the Global Fund Conference. As applause ensued, President Biden began walking off the stage before abruptly stopping in his tracks and looking around with an appearance of confusion on his face.

Biden then seemed to ask people on the ground how to get off stage and did a few stuttering steps. Texas Senator Ted Cruz called the scene 'terrifying,' on Twitter, with his communications adviser Steve Guest adding in own own tweet: 'Joe Biden is completely lost on stage. Scary and sad.'

A man came to the microphone at the event to say: 'Uh, Mr. President, thank you,' as he wandered around the stage. This caused further confusion on the part of the president who slowly inched his way off stage, stopping every few steps to look back at the speaker thanking him for his leadership and remarks. The clip of the awkward side-steps went viral on social media as another example of doubt regarding Biden's physical and mental fitness for the presidency.

Americans have lost $4.2K in income under Biden, study says

The average American has lost $4,200 in annual income since President Biden took office — entirely wiping out gains made under the Trump administration, an analysis from the Heritage Foundation shows.

The losses come down to surging inflation and higher interest rates, experts at the conservative think tank said in a Thursday report.

Their analysis found that the average American has lost about $3,000 in annual purchasing power because consumer prices, which have risen 12.7% since January 2021, have spiked significantly faster than wages.

Wages have risen just 8% over the same period, which has effectively resulted in a pay cut for Americans struggling to pay for daily necessities including food, gas and rent.

Higher interest rates and borrowing costs have also reduced the average person’s purchasing power by another $1,200, according to the report.
