I’m talking about the Cuban missile crisis of 1962. Why would nowadays Russia accept something on its borders, so hostile to its security, what the US wouldn’t back then?

It already has with Norway, Estonia and Latvia.

I’ve never said Cuba was a NATO member. What happened back then was exactly the same as Ukraine nowadays inviting NATO on its borders with Russia.

I'd call that hostile towards Russia.

The US invaded Cuba because they did not accept the threat of Russia becoming friends with Cuba.

This is the same threat NATO poses to Russia by allowing NATO into Ukraine.

The US illegally tried to invade Cuba before there was nukes there. The Bay of Pigs.

The US did this because Cuba tried to be a "independent country" (just like Ukraine!).

Cuba, in response, placed nuclear weapons there to repel another illegal US invasion.

I doubt it. Finns already learned their lesson for flirting with Nazis in WW2. That's how they lost Murmansk region to Russia (then USSR) in 1940.

That was exactly my point. Soviets back then did NOT invade a NATO member to provoke such a reaction from the US. They just wanted to turn Cuba into a Warsaw Pact member, a stone-throw from the American soil. Exactly what Ukraine is aspiring nowadays.
