Elon Musk dissolves Twitter's board of directors

Post by Tyrian-Quill »

Elon Musk has dissolved Twitter's board of directors - cementing his control over the company.

The move was revealed in US Securities and Exchange Commission filings.

On 27 October, following the "consummation" of Mr Musk's takeover deal, he became the sole director of Twitter, it says.

The nine ousted directors include former chairman of the board Bret Taylor and former chief executive Parag Agrawal.

Another, British Chambers of Commerce president Baroness Lane-Fox, declined to comment when approached by BBC News.

'Meme officer'
It is widely reported Mr Musk and his team are also contemplating major job cuts.

The first of these could affect one out of every four staff members, the Washington Post reports.

Twitter did not respond to a BBC News request for comment on this report.

US media also report Mr Musk has been bringing in high-profile allies to work on Twitter, including technology investor Jason Calacanis, who has changed his Twitter bio to "chief meme officer" at the platform and posted a picture of a coffee mug displaying a Twitter logo.

'National-security issue'
Amid widespread scrutiny of Mr Musk's takeover, Democrat senator Chris Murphy said he had asked the US government to review its national-security implications given the large stake in Twitter held by companies tied to Saudi Arabia.

It's pretty amazing to see how scared the democratic party is of Musk.

Musk couldn't even own twitter for a week without having to delete his own tweet for posting misinformation. [icon_lol2.gif]

It's certainly possible that Musk dissolved Twitter's board because they warned him about tweeting ridiculous far right conspiracies. And once Musk realized how dumb he made himself look, he deleted it. But not before gullible right wingers ran with it.

It's just so hilarious that people buy such ridiculous nonsense.
the “Santa Monica Observer,” owned by onetime City Council candidate David Ganezer, is notorious for publishing false news. In 2016, for example, it claimed that Hillary Clinton had died and that a body double had been sent to debate Donald Trump. Months later it reported, incorrectly, that Trump had appointed Kanye West to a high-level position in the Interior Department. Last year, it reported falsely that sunlight could be a remedy for COVID-19 sufferers and that Bill Gates, a major funder of vaccine research, had been responsible for a polio epidemic.

Elon Musk’s Paul Pelosi tweet proves he has no business running Twitter

Just three days after Elon Musk bought Twitter, he posted a tweet promoting the baseless allegation that Paul Pelosi, the husband of the speaker of the House, who was assaulted on Friday at the couple’s home, had been drunk and in a fight with a male prostitute.

The police found Paul Pelosi, 82, attacked with a hammer inside his home by a man, David DePape, who had entered through the back door, seeking the speaker.

Musk’s tweet, later deleted, came in response to a tweet posted on Saturday by Hillary Clinton, attacking Republicans for spreading “hate and deranged conspiracy theories” that she said had emboldened the man who attacked Nancy Pelosi’s husband.

In a reply to Clinton’s post, Musk wrote: “There is a tiny possibility there might be more to this story than meets the eye” and then shared a link to an article in a faux newspaper, the Santa Monica Observer, in which the gonzo allegation about Paul Pelosi appeared.

This is the same Santa Monica Observer, by the way, that in 2016 claimed that Clinton had died and that a body double was sent to debate the Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump.

If Musk’s tweet doesn’t raise bright red warning signs all over the world about his judgment and character, just days after he took over one of the planet’s largest and most influential media machines, I don’t know what will.

Well I find it interesting that once Elon knew it was false he deleted. What's your excuse for all your false posts still here unedited?

Such as just after this saying he fired the board for telling him not to post things......he was firing a biased board no matter when he bought it and was always replacing with his own people. It's common practice when buying a company. For example when Buffett bought Gieco he replaced everyone and now it's a top company.

But you went all far left conspiracy theory but now upon reflection you'll delete it like Elon....or report sensible counter argument as "an attack"

Unlike many others on the far right who have already drank the conspiracy koolaid offered up by Musk, which is just so embarrassing.
