Gramma's Welfare Chinese Food

Fry up breakfast sausages, once they're cooked through, let them simmer in store bought sweet & sour sauce for a bit. Serve over rice.

Quick, easy, cheap*.

*Not a word, any of you!

Iceburg lettuce in full leaves
Lean ground pork. Brown the pork, I add shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, if I have shrimp I chop them up and throw them in. Add some ginger, garlic and any other spices that you like. Top off with some hoisin sauce.

Make an easy stir fry.

Cook up some rice (brown rice is healthier).

Add a choice of meat.
Add any veggie combo you want, but include some onions.

You can even add a cup of frozen peas (cooked) for fun.

Fry the meat and veggies. When almost done, stir in the rice.

Season with soy sauce, or add curry (especially if you use peas).

Stir fry with rice is a staple in my home, it never gets old and can vary it up quite a bit.
Don't get so mad, it's just my opinion.

We do stir fries all the time as well. I add baby corn and snap peas. I started added some Thai peanut sauce as well as it gives it a nice flavour.

So the wrap is the lettuce? Not a pita or tortilla or...

Put it in a browned pie crust, so good!

Quick fry steaks with a balsamic/dijon mustard sauce.

Fry up steaks with salt and pepper. Take out of pan and cover.
In pan add 1/2 cup balsamic vin. boil until thickened, stirring occ.
Add 1/4 cup dijon mustard and mix. Add in juices from steaks.
When serving up steaks pour a little of the sauce on top.
Serve with salad and some Garlic/chive bread(that's for you briter)
Ready in under 30 min. and delicious. Got it from Martha's everyday food.

yes you just drop the meat mixture onto a lettuce leaf and fold it up. Gets messy, but it's good and low in fat as long as you don't douse it in sauce

One my kids love (Me too) is Taco salad, in a bag. Sorry for the instructions, I don't plan on writing a cook book anytime soon.

Brown some hamburger meat, and mix with taco seasoning.
shred some lettuce, grated cheese, chop up some tomatoes
Place ziplock sandwich bags on table *I prefer the heavy duty ones.
Place spoons on the table
place container of sour cream on table
Place container of salsa on the table
Lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes in bowls on the table.
1 bag of taco chips.

Get the kids to mix whatever ingredients into the ziplock bag, and the zip it closed. Then the fun begins, they get to beat the bag to crush up the tacos, open the bag, and enjoy.

The kids get the feeling that they made dinner for themselves, and minimal cleanup. Total prep time, about 10 minutes max. A fun family dinner. And if you are cheap like me, the bags clean up very nicely for the next time.
