Does a bag of cookies count? How about a coffee and a box of Timbits?

Oh wait, you said dinner! Oh well, maybe if you had a good lunch...

I am going to try the Lettuce wraps tonight, I have everything but the Hoosier sauce.

That would be from Indiana. Hoisin sauce would be from China.

Here is one of my favorites, easy to prepare, leftovers for the next day and some to freeze for later.

This is a recipe I have modified to suit myself, think the original calls for meat balls and no seasoning.

LAZY CABBAGE ROLLS

1 lb of lean hamburger
½ lb of lean pork Hamburger
( if you don't have pork, just use 1 and ½ pounds of lean hamburger )
2 cups of cooked rice
couple dashes of Lea and Perrins sauce (Worcestershire)
Seasoned salt to taste
2 onions cut in half and sliced
Shredded cabbage ( I like to use the ready sliced packages of cole slaw, has some shredded carrots in it )
796 ml ( 20 oz ) can of Sauerkraut
796 ml ( 20 oz ) can of diced tomatoes

Mix the raw hamburger, cooked rice. few dashes of Lea and Perrins Sauce, and seasoned salt together.

In a large roaster, using half of each ingrdient, put a layer of cabbage, then onions in the bottom, then add sauerkraut, then the diced tomatoes on top (save most of the tomato juice for the top covering). Now spread all of the hamburger/rice mixture over top. Then repeat cabbage, onions, sauerkraut over that. Lastly add the remaining diced tomatoes with the juice over the top.

Cover and bake at 350 degrees for at least 2 hours. It is even better the second day, and leftovers freeze well.

This is my own recipe. I can mix and have it
in the oven in about 15 mins or less. I don't really
have hard and fast measurements. Give it a try.
Our son sometimes makes this at the gas camp where he flies helicopter in the summer, when it is his turn to prepare dinner. The crew there has nick named it BAM (bad *bleep* meatloaf). He makes a mega size so they have lunch meat for the next day also.

Trapper Ron's Meat Loaf

Mix in a large bowl:

1 1/2 to 2 lbs of lean hamburger (beef, moose, deer, elk, or what have you)
3 cloves of garlic fine chopped ( or 6 cloves even )
1 med onion diced
3 eggs
1 tube of crackers crushed
seasoned salt ( other spices to your taste )
1 small can of condensed milk
a few good dashes of Lea & Perrins sauce ( worstershire )

You can add chopped green or red peppers also ( or both )
Also a tablespoon or two of mustard seed is a nice added touch also.

Fashion into a loaf in a roaster or pyrex dish, season the top with a sprinkle
of seasoned salt. Bake in 325 oven for about 2 and 1/2 hours. Keep checking it.
The cover can be removed for about 15 or 20 mins to brown it a bit more. Let it
stand for a bit before slicing.

I wasn't home for supper today, but you do what my husband did...

Take out the bowl in the back of the fridge that has been there for 10 days.
Heat in microwave, green stuff and all.

Mix with potatoes...mashed out of a bag...I think, and clumpy gravey.

Serve hot...yummy :ohmygod:

We're having Classy Chicken tonight! Yummmmm
You can get the recipe here: (For this recipe I ONLY use fresh broccoli...not a huge fan of frozen in this, and asparagus doesn't taste quite right!-oh, and I love curry so I double the amount!)

Lazy cabbage rolls are yummy!

I too like quick and easy meals. I used to really enjoy trying new and complex recipe's, but no more. One of our favourite meals is made in one roaster. Easy prep and easy clean up. It's black bean chicken, garlic potatoes and carrots.

In a roaster (with a little water or chicken stock) put the following:

Chicken.....I use either boneless breasts or thighs

Black bean sauce from Super Store.....Just pour over the chicken (This black bean sauce is awesome) You can use any other kind of sauce as well.

Potatoes.....Cut up into quarters, put into a bag that has garlic powder, Mrs. Dash seasoning, or whatever you want, shake to coat. Put seasoned potatoes around the chicken.

Carrots.....Slice up and put around the chicken with the potatoes.

Pop in the oven, bottom rack on 325 F for about an hour or so.

CC's chicken sounds good. Think I will try that one in the slow cooker. Being chief cook and bottle washer atm ( wife working ) quick and easy is the recipe, and has to last at least two days.

I use the slow cooker a lot, soup and stews. This morning before I left the house I put a pot roast, with some garlic cloves stuffed in it, into the slow cooker. Added half a dozen new potatoes, cut in half, a diced onion, bay leaf, more garlic cloves and a bit of broth. It will be done for dinner, make a small salad. 15 mins max preperation time. Bon appetite.

AlanH wrote:One my kids love (Me too) is Taco salad, in a bag. Sorry for the instructions, I don't plan on writing a cook book anytime soon.

Brown some hamburger meat, and mix with taco seasoning.
shred some lettuce, grated cheese, chop up some tomatoes
Place ziplock sandwich bags on table *I prefer the heavy duty ones.
Place spoons on the table
place container of sour cream on table
Place container of salsa on the table
Lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes in bowls on the table.
1 bag of taco chips.

Get the kids to mix whatever ingredients into the ziplock bag, and the zip it closed. Then the fun begins, they get to beat the bag to crush up the tacos, open the bag, and enjoy.

The kids get the feeling that they made dinner for themselves, and minimal cleanup. Total prep time, about 10 minutes max. A fun family dinner. And if you are cheap like me, the bags clean up very nicely for the next time.

What a great idea for kids to make their own!

I think adults would have a hoot with this as well. Also set three bottles of red wine on the table without labels  maybe all three the same or all different, or two the same and one different :skyisfalling:

One veggie, one NORMAL!!!
1 layer of browned ground beef mixed with a can of tomato soup and mixed veggies, topped with a layer of mashed potatoes. In the oven at 350 until potatos are golden brown.

Sounds good. I might try that tonite :D
Don't get so mad, it's just my opinion.
