Exactly. It's virtually every employer's policy to suspend with pay, pending investigation. It's not discretionary. It's ironic that people are criticizing IHA for following the rules instead of breaking them. You can't have it both ways, folks.

sounds like he knew he did something wrong and a 100% guilty ,and the whole " I've never done this and won't do it again" is pathetic. Hope his sentence is extreme and that he does have to pay back his wages.

I don't know what to tell you, all I can say is that I will not have contact with you again and I don't know what to say further. I am extremely sorry that what happened did happen and know should have come to you earlier to tell you what actually happened. Makes my stomach churn reading about child sex abusers. Not all people pushing the vaccine down our throats were bad people, but all the morally bankrupt people sure seemed to be pro-get-the-vax-or-else.

There is “overwhelming evidence” Interior Health's former top doctor sexually assaulted a child multiple times in Alberta, according to the Crown.

Dr. Albert de Villiers' three-day trial in Grande Prairie wrapped up Thursday with closing submissions from Crown prosecutor Amber Pickrell and defence counsel Chris Millsap.

De Villiers is charged with sexually assaulting a child and invitation to sexual touching in relation to alleged incidents in Grande Prairie between 2018 and 2020. De Villiers was Interior Health's chief medical health officer, based out of Kelowna, from the summer of 2020 to June 2021, when the charges were laid.

Prior to his move to Kelowna, de Villiers worked as a medical health officer for Alberta Health Services for 16 years.
