As for "concept understanding", I would suggest you start with the concept of "public property". Ask yourself, .. who actually owns it? A hint, ... it's not your government!
And if one can't understand the difference between property with a clear title of ownership and property in the public trust then I have a bridge to sell you ...

They had these parking elevators back into the 1930's, By memory I think
the first one was in Chicago.

A space for 2 to 3 vehicles can now fit many, many more.
I've seen some of these elevator things in Manhattan, NY. They are actually very small and simple, and usually work only for workplaces, knowing that pretty much all spots are filled and emptied at about same time, and in very contested parking areas. Anything random would require some sort of a warehouse-type store & fetch automation, and on a huge scale. The cost of such things would be enormous, compared to street parking.

But these eco zealots have no regards for your wallet. They are about their ideology, not practical stuff. And they always try to explain to you, how it's all "for your own good", "health" or whatever. Never, never trust a word they say. They would lie through their teeth to deceive you.

Keep in mind, Kelowna street parking bylaw allows street parking only for 24 hours.
They can and do tow your vehicle.
Don't worry, they don't seem to get excited about 4, 5 6 cars about the property, some with out of province plates, some no plates at all.

I am not familiar with Kelowna's bylaws. However, I do know that removing the minimum number of parking spaces for new buildings would only exacerbate the street parking problem, if such exists.
That's telling me that the real goal here is not fixing parking issues, but the war on automobiles. And eco zealots would try so hard to tell you that it's all in the name of your good health and well being. That's what I call BS.

Your overuse of the term "eco zealot", basically in every thread that mentions the environment, just shows your inability to understand exactly what harm the gas-guzzlers have on the environment. :200:

I'm not sure there is a parking problem in this town. The OP was complaining about not being able to street park when the City wanted to plow her neighbourhood. If she was getting ticketed for parking on the street that would be different but it was a temporary minor inconvenience. Some neighbourhoods have more street parking, some have less. If street parking matters when you buy your house then look for somewhere that has lots, but don't complain when you're told not to park on the public land so that the City can do their public duties.

This has nothing to do with "gas-guzzlers" and the environment. Parking space is not specific to them (EVs need parking too). This is about the war on automobiles, and/or the private ownership of them. The real push is ideological, namely toward collectivism. It's just that people peddling this stuff are not honest enough to tell you that, so they wrap it into fake "environmentalism", to deceive. And they'll keep peddling it, no matter what, as evident on this forum as well. And any discussion with them is futile, because they not really interested in any honest debate.

In other words, an "eco-zealot" is anyone who feels that we waste resources without thought and that shouldn't be challenged at all, we want to park our investment wherever we want because we can afford to ... all that street parking belongs to everyone (socialism?) since we paid for it with our property taxes (renters too!) and there shouldn't be any limits for things like snow removal or permits required

Dilworth had a 2 day rule when we lived up there... all yr round
Without pulling up the bylaw. You are permitted to leave a vehicle parked for 48 hours. Most Cities have the same time limit.
No one complains no one takes action.

Yet, they reduce (or remove altogether) minimum parking space for new developments, so they MAKE people use streets for parking. Then they restrict street parking. The message here is obvious ... Give up ownership of automobiles! Eco zealots ultimate goal.

It used to be 1.5 parking spaces on developed properties. Now other then the SMART car who drives a 1/2 vehicle?? Motorcycle posssibly, although not all households own a motorcycle. Any idea hs it been reduced to one now?

My understanding is that 1.5 spaces rule applies to high density (eg. apartment) buildings as a total number of spaces required as designated. With that number met, and under normal circumstances, it is unlikely that streets would become an overflow parking. Reduce that number, and this changes.

As I mentioned earlier, this is about eco zealots war on automobiles, nothing else. They want people to give up personal transportation.
