Reports now that time is running out for survivors and the death toll has topped 15,000.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblog ... ke-updates

ETA: I just rechecked, from that link above saying 15,000, Aljeerza is now saying it tops 17,000.

As of 5:45 PST, Aljeerza is reporting that the death toll now exceeds 21,000 and counting.

Pains my heart to watch and read stories coming from the region

I believe the building contractors can only do so much against back to back plus 7 earthquakes but somebody is going to pay, and is right now. Do you want to be in a Turkish prison? I suspect the building contractors are being interviewed right now. Over 33 thousand dead as counted by now and who knows how many in outlying regions.

https://www.castanet.net/news/World/411 ... s-pass-33K

One hundred and thirteen people arrested so far, there may have been bribes involved and do you believe the contractors, builders, regional officials are all going to be pointing fingers back and forth at each other? You bet.

Death toll from earthquakes goes past 40,000. Turkish authorities say 35,418 people have been killed in the country, while more than 5,800 people are dead in Syria, according to the UN and the Syrian government.
Ten International Organization for Migration trucks carrying humanitarian assistance have passed through the Bab al-Salam crossing into northwestern Syria from Turkey.

From Aljeerza, past 40,000 for Turkey and Syria.

Why are we being asked to send money and not actual food aid?
the UN and other aid agencies only want money so that they can buy what they want from who they want.
much of the money is lost due to administration costs and corruption.
I am tired of that. Canada used to send actual food products purchased from out farmers.

Donate generously, as all that $ is put to good use!

Or just donate directly to local people having tough time in life, or to low-overhead organizations that get the resources into the hands of people in need.
