Re: Electric Stove - suggestions?
Agreed . If you have to go electric , try and get a good ole fashioned one like a Kenmore ..Unread post by Bsuds » Yesterday, 7:14 am
Stay away from Samsung!!!!
A few years back Eric's Appliances helped us out with a few "good ole fashioned" appliances that still work today and there's no end in sight to the washer we bought through the ads here ...
The old ones may be called power hogs but they work . If you use them with that in mind, they will last longer than anything new and cost you less .
They don't make 'em like they used to

I agree
The more bells and whistles, (electronics) the more faults to happen.

"I use it more to start the oven or change the temp. from my chair so I don't miss anything on Castanet forums"
LOL, started my day right :)
I like gas better. Stove top cooks faster, more evenly imo
Agree with everyone re all the extras, I can't remember my parents ever changing appliances.
Kitchen Aid makes a stove I admire, close as I will come to getting it is looking at the pictures .

Re: Electric Stove - suggestions?
We're going to take a trip to Eric's Refrigeration tomorrow.
The last thing we got from them (deep freeze, prior to covid) is still going strong.
My old stove is a Kenmore, so I'm quite likely to grab another one of those. Though, I hear Whirlpool is alright as well?

Kenmore has not been sold in Canada for awhile. I would look for something a bit newer.
Kitchen appliances recently are only good for approx 10 years. (of course some last longer and some less)

There are only 2-3 mfgs that actually make the stoves, the days of buying a Kenmore cause they last forever, are over, about the same time Sears closed shop.
Maytag doesn't even exist as a wholly owned company. They got bought out many years ago.
There is not much different between all basic stoves.

Agreed. It is financially better to purchase a big airfryer that does pretty much everything except a monstrous turkey.Bigbacardi wrote: Jun 18th, 2023, 5:54 pm There are only 2-3 mfgs that actually make the stoves, the days of buying a Kenmore cause they last forever, are over, about the same time Sears closed shop.

A large slow cooker, microwave, bbq, Forman grills, and all the other gadgets we have, should cover all cooking requirements. It does, for me.

Last year we replaced our still working, 44 year old Moffat freezer. Friends of ours had one even older.

Kenmore appliances were all made by different Manufacturers as well. You never really knew who made what you were buying.Bigbacardi wrote: Jun 18th, 2023, 5:54 pm There are only 2-3 mfgs that actually make the stoves, the days of buying a Kenmore cause they last forever, are over, about the same time Sears closed shop.

Re: Electric Stove - suggestions?
Moffat was a good run for you. I retired my elderly Kenmore freezer a couple of years ago. Not because it still wasn’t working efficiently…it was, after multiple moves, 20 years of no problems, but wanted to update. Probably I will regret this decision as ‘new’ appliances in this advanced age of up to the minute technology, seems to be a failure with 10 year lifespans.Babba_not_Gump wrote: Jun 18th, 2023, 7:35 pmIt's the same with Moffat appliances.Bigbacardi wrote: Jun 18th, 2023, 5:54 pm There are only 2-3 mfgs that actually make the stoves, the days of buying a Kenmore cause they last forever, are over, about the same time Sears closed shop.

I was thinking cremation but composting is now an option I would consider.

When I want something new I just tell the Boss/Wife that I can't fix it.
Got a new (to me) Weber BBQ yesterday!
