Now now, he was the leader who declared a health care state of emergency so he could bring in the Alberta vax pasport system.

Re: Alberta
Here's what Ralph would have done when he realized the ctitzens of Ottawa had had enough of these nogood thoughtlessly HONKIN' Ottawa protesters.
He would have had his chauffer, Rod Love, drive him to Ottawa in his truck where at midnight he would have barged into one of those saunas at the Coventry Road camp

Re: Alberta
Once again the incompetent Kenney government gets eggs on their facesfor yet another embarrassing gaffe. Kenney has been making a huge fuss about the Emergency Act being used in Alberta and it's now known that just two weeks ago he sent a letter to Ottawa begging for assistance. And given the weapons cache found at a protest under Kenney's watch this just further highlights how completely disastrous and incompetent Kenney's UCP government has been.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/ ... -1.6358520Alberta government sought aid from Ottawa in midst of Coutts border blockade
More than a week into a protest impeding travel to the United States border, Alberta reached out to the federal government with a request for help.
In a letter obtained by CBC News sent to federal Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino and Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair, Alberta's Minister of Municipal Affairs Ric McIver wrote that the province was "currently experiencing significant issues" in regards to travel to the border.
"Despite our best efforts to resolve this ongoing issue, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have exhausted all local and regional options to alleviate the week-long service disruptions," McIver wrote in the letter, which is dated Feb. 5.
According to the letter, the RCMP had attempted to secure appropriate heavy-duty equipment required to remove vehicles and other items, such as trailers and tractors, from the area.
Those attempts to secure those services from providers across Western provinces and the United States failed, the letter said, largely due to the result of "private industry concern over negative consequences."
As such, McIver wrote, the province was requesting federal assistance that included providing equipment and personnel to move dozens of semi-tractor trailers, as well as personal and recreational vehicles, from the area.
It's that special time of year when conservatives stupidly act like they're not allowed to say Merry Christmas.

Resurrecting this "all-purpose" Alberta thread as it looks to be a topic of interest in the coming months. Now, I hate to be an I-Told-You-So but it looks like the inevitable muscle-flexing by Take Back Alberta is starting already:
Battle for seats on the UCP’s provincial board heats up ahead of annual meeting
Two factions of Alberta’s United Conservative Party are warring over control of its annual general meeting, where half of the seats on its provincial board will be up for grabs, amounting to the latest battle in the fight for the future of the UCP.
UCP directors, on the provincial and local boards, are sparring over the registration fee that members must pay to attend the party’s AGM in the fall. Those aligned with Take Back Alberta, the network of social conservatives on the party’s far-right flank, want to lower the fee, arguing that more people can get involved if the cost is reduced. Others, meanwhile, say the party must cover its costs while putting on a convention worthy of Alberta’s governing party, and are weary of TBA grabbing power.
The battle over the AGM’s sticker price is a proxy for the larger clash over the direction of the party, and e-mails obtained by The Globe and Mail underscore the dysfunction on the UCP’s provincial board as it debates the issue. Party members will vote on who should fill half the provincial board seats, including the president’s chair, at the AGM. In Alberta’s conservative circles, this is no longer a low-stakes procedure.
TBA wants to oust directors who do not share its values – generally those elected when former leader Jason Kenney was in charge and whose terms expire at the AGM – and replace them with people aligned with its movement. To do so, it needs hundreds of like-minded Albertans – people who vote conservative but are new to internal party politics and tend to live in rural communities – to shell out for the AGM in Calgary. And so the registration price and associated costs could heavily influence the UCP’s future.
“It shouldn’t be a rich man’s game,” said Mitch Sylvestre, president of the UCP’s Bonnyville-Cold Lake-St. Paul constituency association (CA) and TBA captain.
At last year's AGM, Take Back Alberta gained control of all six of twelve board seats that were up for grabs. This year they have the remaining six seats in their cross hairs. Told ya so.

Re: Alberta
Great. Thank you for telling us. Not sure why this is being spun as a negative, unless you hate Mennonites. Which is just gross.
Awesome. Can't wait to see what these great people have for ideas. They are Canadians too, even if they don't share the horrid ideals of a fringe on the Left with unacceptable views. At last year's AGM, Take Back Alberta gained control of all six of twelve board seats that were up for grabs. This year they have the remaining six seats in their cross hairs. Told ya so.
Thank you for keeping us informed. I find it hilarious that this is supposed to be some kind of fear mongering; time to get out of that echo chamber where everyone who doesn't share exactly the same horrible and regressive Leftist views is some kind of monster. Enough with the Mennonite hate. It's disgusting.
We told yall Project 2025 wasn't real.

Re: Alberta
My concern is that the socially conservative, Christian traditionalist perspective of TBA is not representative of Albertans as a group. In a perfect world their numbers in the legislature would be in keeping with their numbers in the province as a whole, ensuring that their voice in government would have the strength that is due as a portion of the electorate. What the TBA has been doing comes across as less than honestly democratic, and more like a coup.

I'm not your enemy. We have a difference of opinion, and I can live with that. Can you?
