Re: Pierre!
I definitely think this can be said of Jagmeet and Justin, as their actions definitely show this, though neither of them could ever be accused of being "clever"
And yet I don't see him targeting NDP or Green voters, the most limited political vision people there are in Canada. So your comment is 100% wrong in actuality. His every move is coolly calculated to garner votes, and that he targets those of limited political vision is no surprise.
Ah yes, and when all else fails pull Trump out of your far Left rectum. Talk about desperation rearing it's ugly head here again. He's following the Trump populist playbook to the letter, promoting divisiveness by leveling accusations of divisiveness at his opponents.
Yes keeping criminals who constantly reoffend behind bars is "superficial tripe" - this stupid nonsensical swipe at Pierre is just baseless crap. His "policy" suggestions are superficial tripe, empty slogans with no details of how they will be applied,
Let's hope all of the "corporate puppeteers" who have been receiving giant gobs of government cash to build useless toy car factories in Canada languish big time. As for the NDP and the Liberals somehow being on the side of those "struggling the hardest", this is just total hogwash. If they really cared about those "struggling" they would abolish the idiotic carbon tax tomorrow. But they won't, because they want those people buried and perpetually struggling.and invariably the load will be carried by those struggling the hardest under the load they already bear while his corporate puppeteers continue to languish.
We need to stop continuously saying that Canada is moving toward fascism and just admit that under the Carney Liberals we are already there.

Re: Pierre!
The case is far from closed. Pierre had 2 gay men as legal guardians during his formative years yet he still chose to vote against gay marriage…..while one of the dads was sitting in the House of Commons. If he cared about his gay legal guardians in the slightest -and the gay community as a whole - he wouldn’t have done thisd0nb wrote: ↑Aug 6th, 2023, 1:03 pm Conspiracy theories about Poilievre’s secret plot to attack the rights of any group of Canadians are odious. He was but one of many politicians that spoke on behalf of the preservation of the traditional meaning of the word “marriage.”
“I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman.” – Barack Obama
Like Obama, Poilievre has “evolved,” and is now comfortable with same sex marriage. “I voted against 15 years ago. But I learned a lot, like millions and millions of people across Canada and around the world. I see that gay marriage is a success. The institution of marriage must be open to all citizens, regardless of their sexual orientation.”
Case closed. Move on.
Canadians need to be much more vocal about criticizing politicians like Pierre Poilievre for eroding the rights of minorities. And this is exactly why he shouldn’t be PM - the last thing Canada needs is a PM like Pierre who thinks it’s acceptable to take selfies with people wearing t shirts promoting hate groups

Re: Pierre!
.
Pierre Poilievre blames JT for high housing prices, yet high housing prices, and inflation in general, are mainly due to ultra-low pandemic interest rates, that allowed buyers to borrow massive amounts of money and bid up housing prices. Canada is tied to US interest rate policy, like or not.
One thing that can drive down housing prices, is high interest rates.
As for the housing shortages, Canada has massive amounts of land, but gov has killed-off small communities, by centralization of government services, which leads to further exits from small communities. Gov could help make affordable and family-friendly small communities attractive again, by de-centralizing gov services to those small communities. Modern communications helps make this possible.
Don’t blame big silo-cities for not providing enough housing. Reverse centralization.
.
Pierre Poilievre, will immediately fall if he even hints at bringing back Harper’s evangelical hidden agenda.
.
Other than that, he has a few good points.

After 8 years of trials, tribulations, scandals and corruption galore seen in this present, filthy and obscene govt, any scent of ‘evangelical hidden agenda’ would have been exposed to the sunlight by now.Babba_not_Gump wrote: ↑Aug 6th, 2023, 5:52 pmYou missed the one issue that's driving up demand, with no end in sight.nepal wrote: ↑Aug 6th, 2023, 5:35 pm .

Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

These fools will never stop harping on long dead issues while continuing to defend corrupt far Left scum.
It's all they have. They have no policies, just emotions, and a constant stream of stinky woke garbage. Truly awful people.

Re: Pierre!
Yes, mass-migration is affecting demand for housing, partly contradicting the anti-inflation goals of higher interest rates. 8 going onto 9-billion on the plant is a big issue in many ways. Unfortunate that existing disenfranchised (or incapacitated) Canadians aren’t willing (or able) to fill vacant job positions.
The L Fed leadership is even more empty than eight years ago. Competent leadership is long overdue, to carefully solve many complex issues.
BTW, it wasn’t SH’s economic policies that got him thrown out. The majority of Canadians know this.

Yes, it was the way he chose to get his "policies" enacted. I ran across this article, written shortly before the 2015 federal election, when Mr. Harper's popularity was in the tank on a scale to overshadow the current wave of Conservative fueled Trudeau hate.
"But, at heart, Harper’s team are not that different from politicians across the developed world who have discovered that democracy is a pretty sweet theory but that, in reality, if you want to get hold of power and use it, there are all kinds of devious moves available that have very little to do with that antique idea."

And where is Steven Harper today ? In the shadows pulling Pierre Poilievre's strings.
"That wasn't very data-driven of you."
