Looks like the Mayor of Kamloops has relieved the acting CAO of his duties. He claims the city needs to move in a different direction. He still has to get 2/3 of the council to approve this, so we’ll see what his cronies on council say.

Twenty years ago Kamloops' Gang of Four included Gravelle, Warren, McNeely and McCorkell, Today only one left, Mayors come and go but (salaried) COK staff are here as long as they desire - until retirement. McCorkell was always noticeably under-qualified for whatever position he held - including Deputy CAO. Please, Councilors, do not reinstate him.

That said, He's dug himself into quite a hole, the basement?
My opinion, He's as much to blame for this soap opera as council is. Both sides are stubborn but when it comes to decision making, he's out-voted.
Next municipal election I would like to see him run for council, not mayor as he would have a better chance of being elected.
I know a couple on council, used to live near one and in my opinion everyone of those eight have the same mindset. That's not good as we need for diversity on council.

His office was moved to the basement because he was constantly confronting staff at city hall and going on rants around the offices. He was ordering staff to make changes to city policies that required a vote by council. His office was moved for the protection of staff. He came into the job thinking he was a president and could rule without going through proper procedure. Just not a good fit for the job.

Me thinks maybe the staff are just a bunch of whiny sniveling softies who have never been in a fist fight. So just the thought of getting hit is scary….. nobody is actually beating anybody up!!!!!

Yeah. These whiney sniveling softies at city hall shouldn't have to get out from behind their desks and duke it out with the mayor when he comes around the office and bellows at them and threatens them. The bellowing was one step away from actual violence. Moving his office away from the staff area was the safe thing to do. He's just not a team player. He has one vote on council, just like the other members. The mayor has no more power than any councillor. He IS the city's rep and leader but RHJ is a huge failure.
