Why Move???? We have LOTS of sunshine,Summer & Winter;we have NO PST; lowest provincial tax rate in Canada; our roads are in A-1 condition;lots of hospitols and no waiting in emergency;house prices are reasonable AND we are not over-run by rabbit.
Come visit;we'll treat U well! we love tourists that spend their $$$$ here.

What happened between now and then to change your mind? Glad you did! Hope you like it in BC. Where are you moving to?
As to health benefits, your Alberta medical plan will cover you for three months and then BC will take over--provided that you apply, of course.
There is a decrease in Senior benefits from Alberta to BC (My mother moved to BC a year ago.) There is a substantial dental plan in Alberta, although some of the benefits may be income based. Check out what you have and get anything major done before you come to BC. Not sure about eyeglasses.
It's possible to do all the right things and still get a bad result.

You should also be aware that it is extremely difficult to get a Family Doctor and most Specialists have a 3 to 6 month waiting period. The walk in clinics here are not opened extended hours as they are in Edmonton for example. If you have health concerns you should speak to your Dr /Specialist there to see if they can make a referral. :)

Finding adequate health care here will be exremely difficult due in part to the cost of living here. Many young health care workers have left the area leaving most areas understaffed. Young doctors are not coming here either and the ones that are here are overworked beyond belief and to make matters worse are close to retirement themselves. My advice to you, stay where you are. If you have a doctor already because ( given the number of seniors already here ) finding the health care you need will be next to impossible.

I have never had so many negative welcomes. Is it because there are already too MANY of us in B.C? I promise NOT to be a burden to any of U. :hailjo:

Did you read the link I provided pc? It tells you everything you need to know about getting healthcare in BC.

Good luck on your move and hopefully it all goes smoothly. There are Doctors in Kelowna taking new patients.
