COLDSTREAM

Post by Enviro »

It's unfortunate Mayor Corner chose not to run again. Who can blame him, some days he must have felt like quitting after getting hammerred day in and day out by special interest groups and those that don't understand the full issues.

On that note, it is imperative that you vote for Glen Taylor and not give Jim Garlick a chance to move Coldstream back into the 19th century. We need responsible leadership who can put aside their personal feelings and do what's best for the community not just today, but for the future. With the glass plant shutting it's doors, we need to balance growth so we develop a broader tax base which includes commercial and light industrial which will create jobs and spin-off business, not just residential.

Jim Garlick wants to have "Rural Living At It's Best", but at what cost? Remember Vernon didn't want to change either, that's why Spallumcheen has a thriving industrial park generating hundreds of jobs and millions in tax revenues.

Are you SERIOUS about Corner?
If Corner is was so concerned about losing the glass plant and the 300 jobs going too, WHY didn't he do something? He didn't even call the glass plant! NOTHING! As I recall, his response on TV the day the closure was announced was "Um, yeah, oh well."
Besides his failure to even acknowledge the glass plant loss, he should NEVER have even THOUGHT about removing land from the ALR for a sports field! The vote we had last year was unnecessary. Talk about bowing down to special interest groups!

Thank GOD he isn't running again.
