For those who have no experience in city related business here is a candidate who will listen, return calls and emails, apply your valid concerns as comments in council meetings. She genuinely has a love for Kelowna and has learned an immense amount during her first term on council. If Councillor Rule is not re-elected it will be the citizens of Kelowna loss. A first class lady that calls a spade a spade and has no ulterior motives. A very valuable member of council.

Must be two Michele Rules.
I'm talking about the one that I supported and had high hopes for
until she was elected - then - nothing!
Returning calls and emails is PR.
I want to know what she accomplished!
And we she stood on the Simpson Covenant Appeal

Trying to remove the Simpson Covenant was wrong and the entire council must be replaced. Mayor Shepherd should also be replaced. Let's clean house and replace the entire staff at city hall. Let's show them all who pays their paycheques. There are alot of great minds waiting for their chance to straighten out the mess this administration has made.

She won't get my vote. Hope she enjoyed her free trip to Holland with the mayor though. As well I will not vote for anyone that supported the wet house downtown.

A reminder that outlandish statements that insult the candidates must not be made in these election forums. This is an arena to discuss the issues, not personally attack the candidates! Please remember this, and post accordingly.

I haven't met a more dedicated, honest and caring individual.
She has done her best to serve this wonderful community in the most informed & unbiased way.
It is very, very tuff to look at the bigger picture and please individual interests on many issues.
Well done Michelle!!!
With her considerable experience and knowledge gained in so many aspects of our city operations & responsibilities, we will be superbly represented by Michelle. :nyah:

While I do not know Michele Rule personally, I do know that she has been involved in community projects and issues for many years, not just as a city councillor. She was one of the few candidates that attended city council meetings BEFORE she was elected. My sense of Michele Rule is that she tries to be fair and thinks about the big picture and how decisions affect the community, as well as individuals. She seems to be dedicated to the community and works hard as a councillor.
It's possible to do all the right things and still get a bad result.

After reading the answers to the Daily Couriers question of the day, Should Westsiders pay more for the new pool? (20 Days, 20 Questions daily feature), I was most impressed with Michele's answer, which was to give Kelowna residents a discount. All the other answers were yes or no for various reasons. Michele's idea of a Kelowna discount gives the people paying taxes on this facility a break, and does it in a positive manner, and in a way that would not be perceived as punitive to those residing on the Westside, or to anyone visiting from anywhere else for that matter! Well done!

Michele Rule is a candidate who actually cares about individual people and supports community initiatives in numerous ways - she takes action and pitches in where she is needed and stands behind her values. I'm voting for Michele because she did her part long before she was running for office. I work for a local charity, and there are lots of other candidates who only started to care about us when they were trying to get elected. Michele is a smart woman who cares about people and gets the job done!

I don't believe someone that spends our money to enjoy a trip to Holland while I struggle to come up with the money to take a trip to Vancouver to see family should not be sitting on the next council.

Hmmm - double negative!
Did you really mean that you DO believe that someone that spends our money to enjoy a trip to Holland while you struggle to come up with the money to take a trip to Vancouver to see family should not be sitting on the next council?

That I could kinda support.

Please list 5 of your top priorities, and how you would deal with each issue if it were completely up to you.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Michele Rule will not be getting my vote. While I appreciate that she attends many events directed at social justice, I feel that she is all talk, and when push comes to shove she does not stand firm for what she believes in. Michele states numerous times that she never agreed with the bunny cull, but she certainly did not stand strong on that issue. Council members had the chance to bring this issue back to the table within 30 days, and she never tried. A wise social work professor once told me "everything you do and say (or don't do and don't say) is a political action." By not standing up and trying to change the decision for the rabbit cull, Michelle supported the status quo, which was to kill the rabbits. I do not believe she has any right to say she disagrees with the cull.
As for her PR, I e-mailed her at least 10 e-mails, and the only time she responded was when I got rude and actually quite mean (not a proud moment of mine..).
She is nice lady, and I have had some nice conversations with her, but I need someone on my city council who is not afraid to stand up for their beliefs.
