I remember that whole area, Capri, being orchards. From where Springfield and Gordon is now, all the way to KLO. I went to AS Matheson from grade 1-7 and Gordon (then called Glenmore) ended about 20 feet past the school.
I grad at KSS. I went to OKM for grades 8-10 then switched.
I remember climbing on the roof tops of Bernard buildings to watch Regatta and Snowfest parades!

I remember cantaloupe milk-shakes at the Valley Fruit Stand. Think it's a college or something now.
When asked what he thought of Western civilization, Mahatma Ghandi replied "I think it would be a very good idea."

All that I remember is Jack Gordon's Super Value. ( especially the year that the Blue Angels broke the sound barrier and broke all of the windows down Bernard)

Who remembers a young man named Paul who was a fixture around town? He'd always ask people if it was going to be hot tomorrow.

Paul, the guy who used to ride a bike all the time and introduce himself and say hello, unlike 99.99% of the population? I don't recall the weather question but if this is the same person, I have to say, "I don't know". Anyone else?

I googled the window breaking - http://www.navy.com/about/navylife/ondu ... s/history/
Amazing!1969 — During a practice show, CAPT Vince Donile exceeded the speed of sound, breaking a large number of windows in the surrounding area

Paul was mentally challenged, and yes he always rode a bike. I seem to remember hearing that he would swear at people as well, though to me he seemed intelligent enough to know better. I thought of him the other day, and realized I hadn't seen or heard of him in at least 15 years. I wonder whatever became of this fellow. He'd be in his 40's now...

Does anyone else remember WAC Bennett sitting in Bennett's Furniture Store down by Paramount Theater, watching the world go by?

Gary/Paul, my name is Paul...I believe he is no longer with us. He would actually be in his 50's if he is/was still alive.
I knew him well. Last time I saw him was at Creekside (then Adel's) pub in the late 80's.
He would cover 100km a day on his rickety old bike!!!
