paraphrasing nibs i wrote:Just my opinion but I think that more people have been killed in the name of religion than for any other reason. xxxxxx obviously doesnt work.

then it's religion that 'doesn't work'.

his whole career was just so he could deliver that.

he was a like a priest.

a knower of the truth.

i see dylan like that too.

we have to listen to these MUSE-icians,
and a-MUSE-ers,
and be-MUSE-ers like stephen hawking...

they have things to teach us.

sorry for the tangent.

Actually, if you study the millenium (which is yet to come) when Christ will reign a thousand years on the earth after armageddon, you will find that his organization is very socialistic. The difference is that the leader is not a politician and people will learn to live in the system without jealousies and coveting. Then truly people will have all things in common. In today's world, Christ's view of Zion would be impossible to achieve. That is why the people on their own do better than the government at large.

Thank you eyepop, I see you share my belief that christianity is not working just like most of the major religions are not working. I just dont think its right to censor words it just reinforces the belief systems of the Christians.

Sorry Steven, If you look at my earlier post, you will see that eyepop censored - xxxx'd one of my words. Censorship (book burning etc) has been used for years by the Christians to attempt to limit free thought. I got called away as I wrote it so didnt have time to re read.

Seeing as how I have yet to receive a response from Day, here's the answer I think that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would have supplied:

The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was: "If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?" But... the good Samaritan reversed the question: "If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?"

Part of the reason I think "Christians" tend to vote more right-wing than their non-Christian counter-parts has to do with the "moral" aspect rather than "socialistic" aspect.

Since we only have a limited amount of choice in current politics, most Christians I assume make their choice based upon the tendency for left-wing parties to trample what they believe is "morally right" (abortion, gay rights etc).

I think most Christians would agree in principle that they should be helping out their fellow man as much as they can, but because in today's society we can't have both in the same party they vote for "morals". It is much more palatable to help someone (I'm postulating here) in the absence of government intervention vs forcing the government to help and losing the morals they hold dear.

Can Harper understand the second paragraph in your post Funky?
Maybe if you recite a prayer to the gods of politics it may help you.
