Carol James - NOT too smart!
The beloved mouthpiece of the NDP shows us just how smart she really is, by leaving her wallet in a car that was broken into. If she's that irresponsible with her own money/possessions, she sure as heck isn't cut out to look after ours! What a dope!

NDP chief falls victim to thieves
By Lena Sin, Canwest News ServiceJanuary 25, 2009
VANCOUVER -- Car thieves went on a shopping spree Friday night -- on Carol James's dime.
The New Democrat leader fell victim to one of B.C.'s most ubiquitous crimes when thieves broke into her assistant's car and took off with a bag containing James's wallet, BlackBerry, cellphone and gym clothes.
"It's an experience that I know is not unique to me," said James. "So it's a reminder that you don't take any chances."
James was attending an event at the Bombay Banquet Hall in Surrey when she left her belongings in her staff's vehicle.
When James returned to the car two hours later, at about 10:30 p.m., she discovered the windows had been smashed and her belongings stolen from the trunk.
"It's a reminder to all of us about being vigilant and don't trust that things are taken care of. And of course, a reminder of how important supporting community safety is," she said.
The thief, or thieves, didn't waste any time getting started on their spree, either. By the time James phoned to cancel her credit cards, they had already spent $4,000 at various places including Wal-Mart, London Drugs, Wendy's and Safeway.
On average, 70 vehicles are broken into every day in B.C., and another 44 are stolen, according to 2007 statistics from the Insurance Corporation of B.C.
Fortunately, James' Blackberry is secured by a password so she isn't worried about private communication being exposed.
James said she thought her belongings were safe because the parking lot was well-lit with security. Next time, she's not taking any chances.
"It's an extraordinary amount of work that needs to be done to get back what you take for granted," said James.

Funny. What is worse tho. Being stupid and have your stuff stolen out of your car or being pulled over, arrested and finger printed for a DUI in Hawai and then having to go to court?

Gee... Carol James is human! But was she impaired at the time of the offence? Oh yea, locking your purse in your car isn't illegal.

Re: Carol James - NOT too smart!
The fact that the NDP has TANKED to 14% below the Libs right now shows what faith the voters have in her ability to run our province's finances. Now that the economy is the number one issue facing us, people's desire to turn BC into a Socialist welfare state has cooled, and we're back to running a business, as we should be. Funny how her union buddies are still chirping for fat raises while the private sector is reigning their costs in.

Re: Carole James - Not a Criminal, like Gordon Campbell
The nice thing about Carole James is that, unlike Sindi Hawkins, when she was diagnosed with cancer, she didn't milk it for everything it was worth. James still managed to do her job, while Sindi Hawkins couldn't be bothered to do more than show up for photo ops.
In fact, I'd bet most Liberal voters forgot that James was diagnosed with cancer -- again, because she didn't make it the central theme of her political platform.

Yeah, her mistake didn't endanger any lives, either!

Hmm.....
Some crack heads are likely who stole her wallet........they usually buy crack........they endanger their lives as well as others.......especially if they are driving.
The funny thing about her leaving her money in a vehicle was the fact that she is stupid enough to do it sober. If she was slobbering drunk and did it then I could understand.
Women have no business running a province and I think she has proved it over and over.

Re: Carole James - Boat loads smarter than Gordo
By the way, BoB, how can you say women having no business running a province, without giving them a chance? Basically all the screw-ups until now have been made by male premiers. Or I suppose it's highly flattering for women to be able to say, "What did you expect? A man was in charge."
(Yes, I know it's reverse sexism, but if you can't critique her policies without basing those (baseless) assertions on her gender, then what did you expect in return!)

Having her car broken into seems to me to be a pretty silly reason to question her leadership abilities over. She shows plenty of faults in just the leadership of her party to convince me that her party will never get voted in, but getting her wallet stolen is not one of them.

It's just a fishing expedition, I suppose.

Re: Carol James - NOT too smart!
I suppose some might argue that it is the Campbell Government's policies over the past 8 years that have contributed to a rise in such crimes.
Others might argue that, if much of these kinds of things is really drug based, that the NDP might have contributed to it as a result of drug use leniency, even acceptance?
Either way I suppose, Carol learned her lesson the hard way, definitely not all that smart in this instance considering how common it is and how much has gone in to public awareness regarding such things. I hope having to learn lessons the hard way is not an ingrained part of her character though.

Why would we want to risk 4 years with Jenny Craig and her union hugging hippies?usquebaugh wrote:By the way, BoB, how can you say women having no business running a province, without giving them a chance? Re: Carole James over Gordo any day!!!
Why do you want to risk 4 more years of the drunken sailor who has brought us the Olympic spending debacle?
I thought it was rather hilarious that the Olympics warrant a special meeting of the legislation, but if another crisis arose in our midst (let's say, in health care), I'm sure Gordo and the Liberals wouldn't even bother. Hell, Hawkins sure didn't! She had enough in her to freeze in Washington, D.C., though. All those who voted for her in the last election out of sympathy, only have themselves to blame for being under-represented in the Legislature.
