Yeah! You got in a bar fight last night, and now you've got a fat lip. I'm sure the other guy looks worse....
Where oh where’d my body go?
Africa or Mexico?
Where or where’d my body go?
Where’d my body go?
Have you seen my ghost?
Staring at the ground?

Thor in a Marvel Comics setting. Notice his wingèd-helmet... not unlike the crown worn by Aragorn in LOTR: The Return of the King.
Am I still being silly?

You mean like his archetypal progeny, Beowulf? (Though, I'd have to say Grendel's dam's got it going on.)

Re: Where do you stand on the probability of Thor's existence?
ya know....
what i know of someone's god named Thor i basically know from that comic and the kid TV animated show. for the thory of Thor to continue to today in a medium of a Marvel comic..
may render it as a manuscript one future day to form a new 'bible' in the Thor legend/religion, (the artists and writers being scribes)..
..or it (the comic) in itself, is a bible. (the artists and writers being priests)
parables, stories, legends..
to pass down the essence of the message.

You should include the epic poem Beowulf in that little plan of yours.... (she said, in a very biased fashion!)

Don't be silly, Zuess is the chucker of lightning and you have to die in battle to get into Valhalla.
I beg to differ O'Tumultous One...
Thor is the mightiest champion of the Aesir Gods, the Protector and Hallower. It is Thor who defends Midgard and Asgard from the Jötunar (Giants: often destructive forces of entropy and chaos). The Thunder God's primary role is to maintain order and to protect the Gods, humans, alfs, and the Earth from destruction. Thor's famous Dwarf-made Hammer Mjollnir ("Crusher"?,"Miller"? or possibly cognate to the Russian molnya, "lightning") has the power of Lightning, and always returns to His hand when thrown. With its power and His enormous might, doubled by His magic Girdle of Strength, and the iron gauntlets with which He handles Mjollnir, He prevails against His enemies, and clears the ways of harmful wights. It is said that no thing living can stand against Thor. Although Thor is known as the Champion of the Gods, He is not known to take part in the battles of men on Earth. His strength comes from His holiness, which is unbearable to ill-willed beings, and He is not a God of unprovoked aggression. One of Thor's names is Óku-Thór (Driver-Thor), for He travels the skies and Earth in his chariot drawn by magical goats. Rolling thunder is the sound of Thor's chariot wheels as He rides the skies.

Doh! I appear to be mixing up my Greek and Norse mythology, however, you still have be a worthy warrior who died in battle to get into Valhalla, so I dunno how many scientists are gonna be there. If there is a sudden rash of scientists getting speared to death, Odin might let them into Valhalla, seeing as how Odin had some weird bias for those killed by spears.

He always screwed around on Hera, who then took her revenge on the poor ravaged maidens, rather than her brother-husband. (Yes, incest is divine!)
