if you're not living your life optimistically,
you are a part of the problem.

the world doesn't need more pessimism.

You obviously don't know the difference between a realist and a pessimist... e.g. hoping the economy gets better but knowing it's getting worse would be a realistic approach, hoping it gets better and thinking it's getting better is just plain stupid... the world needs less stupidity.

Too bad the sheeple can't wrap their heads around such simple concepts as sustainability, contraception, education, environmentalism and peacekeeping. But that's left wing propaganda, isn't it. Fraking socialist hippies!
As for the bees, the cause is found and a cheap solution has been proposed. Yay science! One less DOOOM.

The world can only support so many people in IDEAL conditions... the population keeps growing... many of the resources we need are non-renewable and rapidly being depleted. It's simple math. You are talking 2 different things here - the world not being able to continue to maintain growing populations of humans and the END OF THE WORLD are not the same thing -

Now take into account things like greed and moral decaynothing new here, which contribute to a good portion of the world's problems and "seem" to be getting worse, and it doesn't look too rosy for the future stop wathcing CNN 24/7 and your outlook might change a little - just because sh*t happens doesn't mean it is healthy to hear about it everytime that it does.

It'll be interesting to see if the planet kills us before we kill itI don't think we could ever truly kill it. In the mean time, I plan to enjoy things as much as possible and not be a part of the problem. When the list of things heading the right direction this stuff usually doesn't make the news - it is usually not spectacle that will help increase a news broadcasts ratings - would probably be a small blurt on page 18 of your newspaperon the planet start outweighing the things heading the wrong direction, I'll be more optimistic... keep me posted as to when this happens. :127:
you don't expect much - you are a product of your environment - the news environment you choose to immerse yourself in as a means of enlightenment will certainly not improve your bleak viewpoint of the impending end to existence which you are certain we are in the midst of - It ain't so bad man :127:

Well, it's better than tuning in watching for signs and portents about impending DOOOM! Maybe you should watch more cartoons, laughter is healthy.

Turn OFF the idiot box - that would be a great start!

I just saw on MSN that a gunman killed 10 in Alabama...... Do I need to know this? On the grand scheme of things - is it really important that everyone know all the details???

Our "NEWS" has turned into nothing more than a glorified " Accident Scene" Catering to all the curious Voyeurs that get a sick sense of pleasure watching the misery of others- How you think this is keeping you "informed" or somehow more in touch with the "pulse" of the planet - which ever stories will "SHOCK" people the most are the stories that make the News - does not mean they are the "norm", more prevalent, a sign of the apocolypse......

No one said the world is "in such great shape" - its just not as bleak as you would like to have us all believe.

Everything sucks, Boo -hoo me, the world is ending, DOOM! Maybe you should start focussing a little more on the first 9/10ths of the bible instead of just the ending ..........

In the meantime I try not to be like you... bitter and full of hate.

So of roughly 1800 posts I have a handful that say the world is heading in a bad direction and that means I think everything sucks and boo-hoo? :dyinglaughing: Maybe you should focus on reality a bit more.

out of 1800 posts you are the one trying to connect the current news stories to the END Of THE WORLD - Yes - you are clearly well rooted in reality

In the meantime I try not to be like you... bitter and full of hate.Just because I disagree with you does not mean I am bitter and full of hate - I just don't agree with your perspective

If you'll notice I was responding to soulra's post when I was talking about being bitter and full of hate. Anyway, having a solution is completely different than putting one in place... e.g. we could easily cut the population in half if most people didn't have kids for the next couple of generations... will it happen? nope... so if you have the manmade solution to overpopulation, the economy, diminishing resources, etc. perhaps you should call the press immediately as I think the world should know.

CNN Journalist at the Wailing Wall

A female CNN journalist heard about a very old Jewish man who had been going to the Western Wall to pray, twice a day, every day, for a long, long time.

She watched him pray and after about 45 minutes, when he turned to leave, using a cane and moving very slowly, she approached him for an interview.

"Pardon me, sir, I'm Rebecca Smith from CNN. What's your name?"

"Morris Fishbein," he replied.

"Sir, how long have you been coming to the Western Wall and praying?"

"For about 60 years."

"60 years! That's amazing! What do you pray for?"

"I pray for peace between the Christians, Jews and the Muslims. I pray for all the wars and all the hatred to stop. I pray for all our children to grow up safely as responsible adults, and to love their fellow man.'"

"How do you feel after doing this for 60 years?"

"Like I'm talking to a *bleep*' wall."

Africa or Mexico?
Where or where’d my body go?
Where’d my body go?
Have you seen my ghost?
Staring at the ground?
Have you seen my ghost?
Sick of those *bleep* clouds

The End of the Mayan Calendar is scheduled for December 21, 2012 (give or take a year).

But the Mayan Calendar is not necessarily your average, run-of-the-mill calendar. It is, among other things, reputed to be the most accurate in the world. This is due in part to the fact it is also a relatively complicated calendar, using cycles of 13 and 20 (weird!), relating to the cycles of other planets (e.g. Venus), and in general incorporating some 22 (at last count) different sub-calendars, such that every contingency can be accounted for.

The Mayans did not elaborate in great detail about what would happen in 2012 A.D., just that their calendar would end. However, there has been no end (pardon the pun) to the possibilities being forecast by modern day interpreters of what the Mayans might have meant. These possibilities include 2012 A.D. as a time for:

1) major changes in human DNA (as in Indigo Children),
2) an enormous leap in Consciousness,
3) dimensional shifts (as in Hyperdimensional Physics and/or Superstrings),
4) the cessation of linear Time,
5) an evolutionary human pinnacle,
6) a huge surge and multiple breakthroughs in technology,
7) the end of Money,
8) massive genetic mutations [the good news!],
9) (5/25/06) Massive earthquakes and volcanic activity due to sunspot activity and unique planetary alignments (as discussed in Jupiter's Dance),
10) a serious, altogether-too-close encounter with a Near-Earth Objects member,
11) and a cosmic alignment of our solar system with the plane of our Galaxy, the Milky Way. The latter represents the end of a 25,920 year cycle -- a cycle based on the Precession of the Equinoxes).

Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
