Here is a list of 15 NDP promises should they kick El Gordo out of office. Some of them are very impressive and important...

1. Freeze tuition fees and compensate postsecondary institutions for lower revenues that might have otherwise come from students.

2. Close the loophole in the Residential Tenancy Act that allows landlords to evict renters to do renovations, and then rerent the unit at a much higher rate.

3. Strengthen the Agricultural Land Reserve by returning the Agricultural Land Commission "to full provincial status". Premier Gordon Campbell created regional ALC panels with the authority to remove farmland from the ALR. Critics say this has led to more productive farmland being developed for other uses.

4. Restore 2009 funding cuts to the arts and increase the budget of the B.C. Arts Council. Also, provide a new $50-million "capital fund" to the B.C. Arts Council for investment in projects that support the growth and sustainability of professional and community arts, culture, and heritage sectors.

5. Repeal the Significant Projects Streamlining Act. This was B.C. Liberal legislation that gives the provincial government the authority to override municipal zoning decisions.

6. Repeal B.C. Liberal government legislation that took away local control over TransLink and turned it over to a provincial government-appointed board of directors.

7. Keep public forest lands in public hands.

8. Hold a public inquiry into the privatization of B.C. Rail.

9. Hold an inquiry into the missing women on the Downtown Eastside.

10. End the Gordon Campbell government's requirement that B.C. Hydro buys all new energy from private producers.

11. End the Gordon Campbell government's requirement that all capital projects of $50 million or more be built through a public-private partnership.

12. Introduce legislation to prohibit ticket scalping.

13. Support the Therapeutics Initiative.

14. Upgrade St. Paul's Hospital and maintain it as a Centre of Excellence.

15. Include the RCMP in a provincially mandated complaint process.

You forgot to add that they are promising to increase "working families" taxes an additional $3,000,000,000.00 - that's $3 Billion dollars over the next two years.

How is this bash any different than you "warning" us of an "NDP pork fest"? I don't know what Obama has to do with any of this. I could care less what he thinks. He works for the same people that Gordo does.

That's true, and some of those ideas you posred do have merit. We could save some money by ousting Campbell and cancelling the twinning of the Port Mann Bridge. What pure madness !!! There's not enough room in Vancouver right now for the existing volume of traffic and the Liberals want to increase the flow of traffic into that chaos ?!?!?

The NDP might be known for spending, but we're going to be paying for many Liberal boondoggles for many generations to come (never mind the incurred social costs).

You Can also add to that New State Of the Art Steel Plants in BC to produce all carbon, stainless and Nickel steels both long and flat products. rail, heavy beams, plate and sheet to name only a few. New Automated Steelworks and Shipyards that will be world class competiters. With the first builds to be drill ship and rigs for service offshore BC and Northern Canada. We are going to make the rails and build the railcars as well as the ships we need not to mention make and supply the pipe. We will not have to import these at world market prices plus freight to Canada not to mention the duty, Canada does not need more import duties we just need modern plants and equipment to competitivly build our own and ofcourse we need to mine iron ore, coal and we need both coal gas and natural gas to run our furnaces with, we need hydro and wind power as well. We can build the windmills offshore also.

That is what 20,000 high paying full time Jobs Look Like !

The truly maddening part is Campbell isn't twinning the Port Mann - he is mothballing the existing 5 lane bridge and building a 10 lane bridge! adding 10 more lanes and then taking away the 5 existing lanes makes so sense. It isn't much better than building fast ferries that won't be used.

As for the NDP policies, I agree with about half of those listed, but many of their policies I don't agree with aren't listed.

What is pure madeness is Gordo's plan to Scrap the Port Mann Bridge and build a new private owned bridge, Not Twinning the Port Man!

Not one person in the lower mainland is going to give up there car with or with out a new bridge being added, however all of the people of the lower mainland will take note of the lower air polution because of the reduced Traffic Jams, that is if we actully build some Highways(Freeways) along with the Bridges needed.
