At least one poster already said no.

Re: Letter to the Editor Easter show at the Parkinson Rec Center
This is ridiculous, while i did not see the skit I feel that if you really believe in jesus and what happened then shouldn't this be something you teach your children as well. Furthermore the article said that we teach our children that hitting is wrong. By completely sheltering your kids from bad things does not teach them lessons rather it makes them more naive to them. I would assume that showing jesus being beaten would be a great example of why hitting is wrong. The world is a huge place full of corruption and bad things, now you can do one of two things inform your children and teach them to do the right thing, or shelter them from anything bad and have it all land on their lap as they get older. most cases the latter yields more corruption and wrong doing simply due to ignorance. Stop scape-goating and raise your children yourself

What if you don't beleive in Jesus and thought you were just attending an Easter Egg Hunt at the Rec Centre?

Bashers are always Bashers
"Church Funded Event" Humm, mabey we should all remember that point. All you people are outraged at the fact that a play would have Christian/Christ related themes in it on good friday? Frankly I am alittle surprised that you were surprised.
Its humourous that most people would allow their children to watch far worse on Television.
Ten points to any Christian involved in this event that is not scared to display what is the most important act ever commited on this planet. Points to any person not scared of negative feedback.

As has been pointed out previously many people didn't realize this was a church sponsored event. I never knew it was till after the fact when the news about the play came to light. I thought it was put on by the city.

Re: Letter to the Editor Easter show at the Parkinson Rec Center
I am having a birthday party for my 4 year old this saturday night - Bring out the kids - sports is the theme -there will be cake and games and fun fun fun!!!!
will the parents have the right to be outraged when they find out after the cake we sat all the kids around the TV for some UFC action to keep with the "sports theme"???
You religious folk seem to be missing the point - nobody cares all that much nor are they surprised that Victory church would have religious content infused in their fun and games.
the problem is the VIOLENCE in front of children and unsuspecting parents. Yes, some kids may be allowed to watch way worse on tv - SOME ARE NOT! Why was it in the churches right to subject those kids to violence just to tell the story ( i got the story every year, read by a priest, left to each induvidual imagination to fill in the gory details)
Pretty sure 95% of children under the age of 6 have very little comprehension of who jesus is, what the story is really about, that the man being beat before them is just acting, that the people doing the beating are really nice people pretending, that this play is deeply meaningful and must be witnessed before continuing with the consumation of recently found CHOCOLATE....... did somebody say chocolate.......
The Passion of the Christ was 2+ hours of extremely gratuitous Gore ( but jesus was involved so its OK???) I had an easier time stomaching "Saw" - but because Jesus was involved hollywood raked it in on a movie that stooped to new lows. I can't wait til the recreate the 10 commandments and realistically slaughter all those babies, just so I can be a little more "in touch" with the story of moses by viewing a realistic gory depiction.........

Churches like this who use the secular chocolate expression of the day-off called easter as a "clever" means to shanghai the secular world with the gospel should be humbled by this experience.
Not only was it a collossal blunder to include a violent show at a kids event without warning, but through it all the real message was lost. The only thing being discussed now is the violence and it's effect on the kids.
That anyone would willingly endure violent torture and death by execution on anothers behalf is something that should be remembered with awe and reverential respect but it's actually what happened next that was the most significant event in mankinds history and established this particular individual as the messiah.
Our redeemer ... lives.

Re: Letter to the Editor Easter show at the Parkinson Rec Center
I'm sick of the 'kid see it on tv all of the time.' justification. Who's kids, not mine, not my friend's.
What is on tv is on tv, it doesn't mean my kids get to watch inappropriate things. Get a grip, the argument is weaker than a wet paper bag.
EDIT* I would no more take my kid to a public flogging any more than I would to a 'play' involving one...that simple. It's fraking sick and cruel.

That opition wouldn't be available to you as you'd have to prove there wasn't a pre-existing condition.
