We are all atheists

Is there a god? What is the meaning of life?

One Sunday morning an old cowboy entered a church just before services were to begin. Although the old man and his clothes were spotlessly clean, he wore jeans, a denim shirt and boots that were very worn and ragged. In his hand he carried a worn out old hat and an equally worn out Bible.

The church he entered was in a very upscale and exclusive part of the city. It was the largest and most beautiful church the old cowboy had ever seen. The people of the congregation were all dressed with expensive clothes and accessories.

As the cowboy took a seat, the others moved away from him. No one greeted, spoke to, or welcomed him. They were all appalled at his appearance and did not attempt to hide it.

As the old cowboy was leaving the church, the preacher approached him and asked the cowboy to do him a favor.

"Before you come back in here again, have a talk with God, and ask him what he thinks would be appropriate attire for worship." The old cowboy assured the preacher he would.

The next Sunday, he showed back up for the services wearing the same ragged jeans, shirt, boots, and hat. Once again he was completely shunned and ignored.

The preacher again approached the man and said, "I thought I asked you to speak to God before you came back to our church."

"I did," replied the old cowboy.

"If you spoke to God, what did he tell you the proper attire should be for worshiping in here?" asked the preacher.

"Well, sir, God told me that He didn't have a clue what I should wear. He said He'd never been in this church."

Amen.

So according to some folks god is omni-present.
A fellow I know bought a church, and converted it to a very nice residence.
The church held a ceremony to 'de-sanctify' the church, or get god out of it.
How do you get an omnipresent god out of a building?
And why would you want to?
Just think, if they had left god in the building, the folks living there would be really holy after a few months or even after a few nano-seconds.
We're lost but we're making good time.

So you think innocence, understanding, wisdom, earth, and the the universe all have spirits?
What do these spirits do? Do they act independantly? Do they speak? Listen? what makes you believe what you believe? ?

ON a Vision Quest I learned: we all have feelings, "Feelings is an emotion without touching something physically" we all know what Innocence is, "right from wrong" Understanding "is what we learn throughout the day" wisdom in not hurting or calling other people down. Spirit of Mother Earth, "knowing the inner self" Spirit ot Father Sky, the knowing of the outer self, "as in all things around you. I learned from my Vision Quest: All living things have a Spirit, the Spirit world is an entity, therefor all is related Spiritually. Thanks for Asking.

Thanks for answering, oldhip. I would appreciate more information about what a Vision Quest means.
I am an atheist, perhaps a militant atheist, but am interested in your vision of reality and would like to understand your point of view. Without malice.

My Elder told me it was time for my Vision Quest. Not only did I not have any belief: I had a hatred for all beliefs. Also a great hatred for my self of which I did not relies. May be you have seen something like such in Native movies, you no out in nowhere for days. Any way: when it was over I saw my life in a different light.

I saw my past: I do not like it. All I can really say is. If a person walks a good trail in life: Do not hurt others or condemn others for what they believe: have belief in yourself. Be honest to your self and love yourself: only then can you be honest to the one you love.

I do not believe it is right to push a belief on anyone. I now believe it is up to a person to find their own trail in life. As for me: I guess I needed outside help.

Enjoy your life: it is too short as it is. Do not grow up to be old and miserable like the many people I know. May your life's journey be a good long peaceful one.

Big Thanks to all My Relations
