If that was the case, she wouldn't be able to wear mixed fibers in her clothes, eat shellfish, or shave or cut her hair. These are just a few of god's laws that christians choose not to obey. Freakin' hypocrites.fvkasm2x wrote:Doesn't a "true" Christian follow His word at all times, not just when they feel fit to do so?

Re: Prejean
How does that make them hypocrites? The fundamental piece of Christianity is that you cannot follow all the laws all the time. But if you want to call them hypocrites because they have admitted they're not perfect, go for it. Keep in mind it shows ignorance when you attack someone for what they don't do when they say they can't do it in the first place.Mr Danksworth wrote:If that was the case, she wouldn't be able to wear mixed fibers in her clothes, eat shellfish, or shave or cut her hair. Re: Prejean
First off, she answered the question honestly. The attacks that followed were completely uncalled for. That is the left wing ideologues and media punishing someone for not having the same viewpoint they do. It happens all the time ie Sarah Palin.
Now to religion or specifically Christianity. The central event in Christianity is the atonement of Jesus Christ. He died for our sins, so that if we repent we can be clean again. God knew that none of us are perfect, so to claim that religious people are hypocrites because they aren't perfect is pure hypocrisy... no christian has ever claimed to be perfect, so holding them to that standard just shows plain ignorance in what they believe. Congratulations.

I just think it's funny that they get their bibles in a bunch over homosexuality, but ignore the other fun stuff. Why don't they firebomb hair salons or picket outside of canneries and factories that produce mixed fabrics? I hope it's because they realize such things are silly. Maybe one day they will realize their hatred of homosexuality is just as silly as prohibitions on eating shellfish.

Yay! Let's bash a whole belief system because you think a few extremists are hypocrites! Let's use generalizations as arguments! Let's try and start a flame war because discussion is silly and you pretend to know everything.Mr Danksworth wrote:I just think it's funny that they get their bibles in a bunch over homosexuality, but ignore the other fun stuff. Re: Prejean
What is funny is your lack of knowledge of religion. You start out talking about Miss prejean who is some kind of christian and now you are raging on the law of moses which doesn't apply to christians. Good one, I guess you mock what you are ignorant of. Usually a bad idea because it makes you look a bit stupid.Mr Danksworth wrote:I just think it's funny that they get their bibles in a bunch over homosexuality, but ignore the other fun stuff. Because they're hyprocites, plain and simple. Adultery is mentioned far more times in the bible than homosexuality, but how many Christian protests have their been about cheating husbands and wives? Prejean is in the same ranks as Palin, except Palin clearly has fewer brain cells. Prejean's comments deserved to be jumped on.
You cannot reason someone out of a position that they did not use reason to arrive at.

Meh, no skin off my nose. Sometimes the truth hurts.
By the way, Palin isn't stupid because she's a Republican. She's just stupid.

You guys are going to make me smash my face into a table. Extremists do not a religion make.Nebula wrote:Because they're hyprocites, plain and simple. I don't really care one way or the other one what she said, there are morons on both "sides".
Also as a point of reference though, God didn't destroy two cities because of adultery (see Sodom and Gomorrah). But that's off topic.
Hypocritical:
1. a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.
2. a person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, esp. one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements.
Where does not doing something you think they should be doing fall into the above definition?
To be a Christian all you have to do is believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins. It doesn't say you have to protest everything anyone does that is against the teachings of the Bible. Everyone has their "causes" they will fight for. For some "Christians" it is against homosexuality, for some it is against abortion, for others it's against corruption, for others it's against Socialism, for others it's poverty. I'm not saying by fighting for any one of these they're right (in most cases I think they are wrong or do it wrong), but by saying they're hypocrites because they cannot protest everything is ludicrous.
I don't like to see/hear people die of cancer, or Alzheimers, or muscular dystrophy, or heart disease, or any other horrible disease/genetic condition a person can have. I don't have the means to donate to all the charities, and I don't think that makes me a hypocrite (correct me if I'm wrong).

This all over some dim witted beauty queen from California. "Wow" so she has some issues who the hell does it. She has learned in the future do not make any tapes that could/may get yourself into hot water. Even the tape it self is no big deal, so she did something that taboo in christian circle.

Or maybe she'll just go into porn seeing how she has pretty much burned all of her other bridges. Anyway it's probably time Olberman left her alone she's not worth the air time, Pallin on the other hand, keep hacking away Keith...

I didn't call anyone stupid, I said the posting made you look stupid. I don't know you, so I don't know if you are stupid or not. I won't judge a person based on cowardly anonymous postings. They usually say things they wouldn't say to a persons face.
could you give me some examples of her being stupid apart from one slip up in one interview with Katey couric?
I did see her speak very well in front of an audience when here teleprompter went down, something Obama can't do to this very day.

I wish it were that simple. Sadly, she is going around the talk show circuit right now and was on Larry King the other night (which is what prompted me to start this thread).WTHWYT wrote:This all over some dim witted beauty queen from California. She is essentially a nobody, yet she is trumpeting Christian values in the media. Fake boobs, sex tapes and beauty pageants aside... her "message" comes across as the ramblings of a delusional nutjob. When an investigative journalist (or whatever Larry calls himself) asks you probing questions regarding a law suit you were recently involved with, you should have formulated responses in prepartation. She came across as paranoid, fruity and petulant.
