Nuns

Post by ILBT uh-huh »

I am tolerant of organised religion and try to keep at least a partially open mind about such matters, so when I was talking to a Nun this morning, I got to wondering what, exactly, do Nuns do?

Anybody?

Nun of your business.

Seriously, they hang out at churches. It's their habit.

I think, in a round about way, both our answers are serious....

Nuns, hang out in churches and pray and teach...

Okay, I'll narrow it down a bit. Why would a Nun be involved in a couples divorce?

Serious answers only, please. You people would have too much fun with this otherwise.

Counselling would be my guess.

I agree with Neb...
A Nun may be used to clearify certain aspects of religion, considering they teach it...

Have you ever heard of Google? Try it and you will get your answer.

Or you could have just asked the Nuns you were talking to...

Nuns I've known do a lot, from working with troubled youth and addicts to assisting with church activities. Don't know how many take their final vow anymore. I liked it better when they wore habits and had their special names.

I was involved with Nuns as a child and teenager … I truly believe that some of the Nuns are there to do their best … some took the part and it went to their heads and went on a power and control trip …

I also believe that Nuns having a deep belief in God have been used by the Church Heads … to work to make the church much, much richer …

A few years ago in Quebec some Nuns polled their money together and invested some $6,000,000.00 to a person to invest in a business … they were taken for a big ride and lost all the money … where did they get the money …

Cloistered nuns still do, but I believe because they abide by the papal enclosure, you don't see them out in the community as often. I think it depends on the rules of each particular monastery as to how 'cloistered' the nuns are.
