Quebec among most highly indebted in the world
I thought this was an interesting revelation. The question is, how and why? And is it good or bad in your opinion (for Quebec, or for the rest of Canada)?

""Quebec among most highly indebted industrial economies in the world
An analysis by the Quebec Ministry of Finance suggests the province has one of the most heavily indebted economies in the industrialized world.
The 44-page document calculates the province's total debt as 94 per cent of GDP, employing methods used by the Organization of Economic Co-operation and Development.
The government report, available on the ministry's website, compares the total provincial public debt to that of other Canadian provinces and to major industrialized nations.
Quebec ranks only below Japan, Italy, Greece and Iceland in terms of public debt as a percentage of GDP.
The report calculates public debt across Canada as 69.7 per cent of the country's GDP.
The report puts Quebec's total public debt at $285.6-billion.""

Re: Quebec among most highly indebted in the world
Public spending beyond one's means is a disease and Quebec has a bad case of it. It permeates all political parties in North America. South of the border it's interesting to note that Republican administrations have racked up more debt over the years than have Democratic administrations. And here in Canada the Conservatives, after being pushed by the "coalition," haven't been all that conservative with their spending either. And on it goes with the provinces but it would seem that Quebec takes the prize for the most irresponsible spending.

Re: Quebec among most highly indebted in the world
Interestingly, Quebec's Premier Charest (a lawyer by profession) is former leader of the Federal Progressive Conservative Party, and now leader of the Quebec Liberal Party. Considering the situation here in BC with Gordon Campbell and his background, it really do make ya wonder if ANY political party, federal or provincial, can be counted on to truly be fiscally "Conservative" any more :-(
I do tend to agree with westsidebud however when I think of all the financial and political perks that flow in Quebec's direction, paid for by the rest of Canadians, particularly from here in the western provinces on a per capita basis. And seemingly even with all that Quebec still cannot seem to keep its head above water. Socialism at work? ;-)

We should round up all the Quebecois and ship them to Australia.

You mean you can understand what he types ???
Yup, but you have to be prepared to make the effort. I don't tend to get too hungup on the words, spelling, grammar, etc, and instead focus on looking for the message (usually spread over a number of posts rather than any particular one).
....It seems to depend on what time it is too

It's interesting that is the case since Quebec and Quebue City, has placed a bid for the 2022 winter games. True they will not know until sometime near 2014, if they won or not.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests. I am an old cantankerousness grump that happens to be very opinionated.

Ya, it is called drink 14 beer, smoke 4 joints, slam your head in car door 8 times, and close your left eye really tight. His posts become quite clear after that. It is probably better to not gain such understanding.
