Re: The emergent church
My interest is made very clear in my first post and repeated in others that follow. This topic of conversation seems to get off track very easily. If you read my first post you will clearly see what my interest is. There being "many" ways to get to heaven is just one small part of what the emergent churches are teaching. The pastor of the church I have just started attending took a stand against the emergent church last Sunday and for that I was very pleased. For now anyway, it looks like I may have found somewhere to worship, but it wasn't easy. If someone does their homework, it's easy to see that most of the (especially larger) churches have/are already going that way. So the people I wanted to hear from are the people that are educated and knowledgable in what the emergent church is all about.

Well, that and to gloat over the people who are 'doing it the wrong way'. There can only be ONE WAY. All others are paths to ruination.Nibs wrote:So Binky, is your interest in religion, just that it will get you into heaven?binky11 wrote: there is only one way to get to heaven.

Some folks worship almost constantly, where ever they may be.

Re: The emergent church
Great sites thank you, they explain it well, especially the first paragraph of the second link. That was also written by someone who is all for the emergent church. Regardless they explain what the emergant church is all about and even the difference between emergent & emerging. Here is something possibly more on topic:

Oh yes I couldn't agree more, you can worship ( and I do) anywhere and everywhere. But I missed having a church family, and the fellowship. Can you not worship at home? or in a park?

If you are a Christian and believe in "the bible" then yes it makes it very clear there is only one way to heaven. That is the Christian belief. Why you are in this forum I'm not sure, to try to get me stirred up? Won't work. I asked to hear from Christians that are struggling with accepting the emergent church movement. If you can not add any knowledgeable insight, maybe you could go to another thread where you do have some knowledge.Well, that and to gloat over the people who are 'doing it the wrong way'. Re: The emergent church
I for one am in this forum because I have studied a number of religions, over the years and am interested in spirituality, and philosophy.binky11 wrote:Why you are in this forum I'm not sure
I am also in this forum to help point out the religious claptrap being passed off as the "only true faith", by several of the religions of the world.
The King James bible which you "believe", was bought and paid for by a pedophile (king jim himself) for self agrandizement. It contains many contradictions and impossible postulates which are purported to be the "word of god" It also left out arbitrarily many gospels and stories contained in the original greek version.

suggestion on the topic dealing with book translations, some of the best translations have come from Tindal.

Re: The emergent church
Your right, it's just a respect thing. I just can't imagine joining in on a thread in which the topic was nothing I knew about and where I didn't feel welcome. My problem is I need to learn how to ignore the disrespectful. I asked to hear from people that were having the same problem I was and what THEY were doing about it. You have knocked and mocked every word I say. Can I ask that you re-read my original post please and if you are a Christian and having a hard time finding a non-emergent church, THEN I would love to hear from you. If you do not believe in my faith, so be it, I can respect that, but please respect me and my beliefs too.Not to mention that this is a public forum and you can't choose who replies to your posts.

Re: The emergent church
Nah, I'm firmly planted in the atheist camp. I was just intrigued at this new emergent church thing. I was pleased to find that it was just another example of how people of your faith can't even agree on the supposedly basic tenets of your professed choice of religion.
10000+ denominations, all arguing over what a book of myth really means. It's like watching a blind person looking for a light switch in a dark room.

You're asking way too much from some of the smaller, fearful and hate-filled minds around here.binky11 wrote: If you do not believe in my faith, so be it, I can respect that, but please respect me and my beliefs too.

Cogdisophants 'r' us, eh? Well done Lloydy boy. I thought you said that you no longer participate in the R & P forums? :127: Anyway, you have obviously failed to see the impartial advice that some of us have offered Binky in her time of need. Like Binky, you seem highly intolerant and very quick to criticise those trying to help.
Perhaps you should re-read Luke 10:25-37 before you start flapping your gums!

Re: The emergent church
Where did this come from? The help I asked for is from any other CHRISTIAN who has had a problem finding a church in Kelowna that has not gone or is going emergent. Not one person has replied with this simuliar problem. I think it is because 1) Most Christians are not even aware it is happening 2) They are aware but have not enough info on the subject to respond 3) They know about it and are content with the changes. Regardless the topic has turned into posts that have nothing to do with what I was asking about. I do not see where I criticised anyone who was truely trying to help in response to what I was asking for in my original post. If I have, I am very sorry, I meant to criticise nobody trying to help. I was not asking for athiests to come in and mock me, that is NOT what this thread is about. If you are not a Christian, you cannot possibly help me in my quest as you would not be having the problem I was. So this is not a thread that an athiest come come into and offer me any help, yes I criticised this person but they were not trying to help, but instead mock every word I say as they do not believe what I do and want an arguement. I wanted other Christians to maybe come on and take a stand and say yes binky, we have been going through the same problem and this is what we did or suggest. I was VERY clearly asking for responses from other CHRISTIANS. If there was a thread about athiests, I would never think to go in it and knock them for not believing, I would not belong in there. I wish this thread would stay on topic. Yes , like politics, a very controversial topic, but not once have I knocked anothers religion, and I would appreciate it if we could all just stick to the topic, if you are knowledgable in that area. This is not about who is right and who is wrong, lets stay away from that. Going away tomorrow for a few days, on a gambling trip, give you all something to talk about while I am gone, how bad a Christian I must be to do this. lolLike Binky, you seem highly intolerant and very quick to criticise those trying to help.

Re: The emergent church
Binky, the atheists here have an open mind, show them that god exists and they will all (maybe except that Danksworth guy <G>) become adherents.
That should be your quest - show the heathens the error of their ways (but not mine please).
