Verbena Oil?

Post by rworld »

Hi all.

Does anyone know where I could obtain some verbena oil? It is for a concoction known to induce labor (mix with castor oil, apricot extract, etc...) None of the health food stores carry it, and none of the midwifes that have called us back are willing to sell us any (didn't know it was a controlled substance... ;) My wife is a week overdue and is booked for a chemical induction in a couple of days, but we were hoping to try this first. Anywhoo, any suggestions before Wednesday? Thanks!

Are you freaking nutz? Induce labour on your own without the supervision of a MidWife or Dr.?

That's how I read your post.

Are you aware that if it is a controlled substance as you say, then someone just giving you some is a criminal offense?

Are you aware that even though you may have good intentions no one here is party to your true intentions or motivations?

Are you aware that it is a controlled substance because of possible misuse of the product with too many evil people there to think about?
Spend some time and money on establishing an Estate plan, a Legal Will, your wishes and who is the Executor. Watch Grant of Probate videos. Understand the process to help yourself and loved ones.

Simmer down there, my friend... :cursor:

You must have missed the smiley face at the end of my joke about being a controlled substance. It is an herb, as free to obtain as echinacea, oil of oregano, or any other herb, were it not for the fact that not many places carry it. Nor is it used to induce a preterm abortion, as it seems you may be alluding to. The point of my jest was that I'm sure anyone in town could find an illicit drug easy enough, yet something as simple as verbena oil is nowhere to be found. Bounced the idea off our physician, they're fine with it, but because we are not going the midwife route, none of them has been willing to part with any. So let me rest your soul at ease that all is well in pregger-ville :)

That being said, if anyone has any useful and/or informed suggestions, fire at will!!

Here's my tip.

Castor oil and that other junk don't work.

In my experience this works:

Sex
Bumpy truck rides
Long walks

She has to get her blood pumping and her womb wiggling around a bit.

Try those, and have fun. Congats!!!

Hey, any luck yet?

You said you needed suggestions before wednesday, is that because the doc said wednesday is induction day?

As long as baby is doing well going to 42 weeks and a little beyond is okay, induction is typically done because the doctors just get impatient (or the poor over-due woman).

If she has a doctor's appointment today / tommorrow have the doctor "strip her membranes". Without getting to graphic here: while the doc is checking the cervix for dialation s/he sort of stretches it and loosens the mucous plug. Labour typically starts with 24hrs after that. Worked with my first babe.
