It is quite clear that harpy cannot answer questions, if he tells the truth it will tell even the blind that he has been complicit in such things as torture of afghans, and an American style of governing where Our side won't talk to your side.

Too bad he cant prorogue the election - eh?

The students are only a reflection of their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs, good on em, they are finally waking up to the fact that they cannot trust anyone over 30.

Given that he made this election happen I doubt he would want that. I also doubt it because he's up in the polls, bordering a majority.

And people under 30 have enough life skills and experience to do better or be trusted more? If all these social and environmental programs that the under 30's want are any indication of their ability to run a country, then we are in very serious deep dooodoooo ... but I hope they get their way because I want every government (taxpayer) penny I can get even if it means they have to pay off their stupidity for decades to come. If they are dumb enough to vote that way, who am I to try to discourage them? I reap the benefit and will rape their futures - and they don't even understand that much. They are long on ideals but sadly lacking in brains.

Says who? The generation that got us into this hole? Thanks for the concern, but I'll do my thinking for myself.

Remember just because that's how it's been done in the past doesn't mean it's the only way, and it doesn't mean it's suppose to continue that way.

Back to the sixties GF, I was quoting Timmy Leary, "don't trust any one over thirty"

Not such a bad policy methinks, it is the over 30's that made this mess,
pollution, fiscal deficit spending, hog trough politicians, global warming, et al.

For my part in this I apologize, since I am 30 very extremely something.

I can definately see where both sides are coming from but if my three children and their spouses are any example I would have to agree that some real life experience is a huge part of the education to vote. I have listened to them throughout the years and their opinions have changed a great deal as I'm sure mine did in the past, since they have been in the workforce, paid their own way, purchased homes etc.. Not saying that someone who can join the army and die fighting for our country shouldn't be able to vote but they do have to think very careful about what they are voting for, why they are voting for it and the ramifications of it. Getting people to vote is excellent. The problem is voting is not just walking in and voting.
Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you'll understand what little chance you have of changing others.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the most of everything that comes their way.

I'd also like to apologize for inflicting on the younger generation all of these people from the 1960's who constantly feel the need to apologize out of some sort of guilt complex, and most of the things they are apologizing for don't even exist, like man made global warming etc. All I can say is that kids these days have it far easier than we did in almost every way. And for that I am supposed to feel guilty? No way Jose.

It is not hard to understand at all. Let's look at it:

Pollution - in my lifetime great strides have been made in cleaning up pollution. In elementary school we used to sing songs and write letters to the government about how acid rain was going to kill us all. Do you hear about acid rain anymore? The real pollution - particulates etc - still exist in developing countries and this is where the problem is. Pollution has markedly decreased in the civilized world with the help of better cars, better regulations and cleaner burning fuels. There is absolutely NO REASON to feel any guilt about pollution, given how much has been done to combat pollution just in the past 20 years alone.

Fiscal deficit spending - as long as you don't vote for Screeching Owl, Taliban Jack or Iggyotic - then your guilt slate is clear. Mine sure is. You on the other hand...

Hog trough politicians? OK - name one era of history that these have not existed since the Greeks invented democracy. It is ridiculous to say that this is a reason to feel guilt of any kind.

Global warming et al - once again - if the sun is causing it, then there is nothing we can do about it, and definitely nothing to feel guilt about. If man is causing it - great! Then let one of the scientists that is sucking down some of the BILLIONS of dollars being spent researching this "event" prove it and we can then find ways to solve it. Until it is actually proven to exist - zero guilt from me!!

You should read Slow Death by Rubber Duck: How the Toxic Chemistry of Everyday Life Affects Our Health by Rick Smith and Bruce Lourie.
From the book's jacket wrote:Pollution is no longer just about belching smokestacks and ugly sewer pipes--now, it's personal.

Studies have shown that significant levels of toxic substances can leach out of commonplace items in our homes and workplaces. How do these toxins make their way inside us and what impact do they have on our health? Rick Smith and Bruce Lourie tackle these questions head-on by experimenting on themselves. Over a four-day period, our intrepid (and perhaps foolhardy) authors ingest and inhale a host of things that surround us every day, all of which are suspected of being toxic and posing long-term health risks. By revealing the pollution load in their bodies before and after the experiment--and the results in most cases are downright frightening--Smith and Lourie tell the inside story of seven common substances.
Don't take my silence to mean I've agreed with you; I easily could've just lost interest in explaining how wrong you are.

You don't have to feel guilty, but you should know about substances containing hormone-disrupting chemicals that you come across everyday. The youth are supposed to be terribly uninformed when it comes to politics, but others seem content to remain ignorant of the reality of their everyday lives! :127:

Mmmmmmmmmmmm........ organic beer brewed with sustainably grown ingredients. Damn, that tastes good.

(Sorry, wrong thread, but that's what I'm voting for right now!)

Namaste and :130:
