That is the part that bothers me the most about the video. Are we electing someone who can run a country or are we just voting for whoever can pull of the most musically accurate rendition of Imagine? I mean seriously are we going to bash a politician based on how well they sing and play the Piano ? I just think that is seriously lame. I would hope that the youth of our generation could come up with something more creative then dropping a few “F” bombs and making fun of how someone sings and plays the piano.

What troubles me the most is that the real brilliance in John Lennon and the beauty of “Imagine” was that rather then drop a bunch of F bombs and rip the establishment (something any idiot could have done) instead Lennon came up with a simply beautiful song that provoked people to try and think differently, and some of those thoughts were huge in that generation. If anyone has disgraced the memory of John Lennon it is these degenerates who rather than be inspired by Lennon’s creativity they instead lower the bar with nothing more than insults and the bastardization of the English language. Sad.

I expected very little from a site called S___harperdid.com and wasn't disappointed - its not funny, or intelligent. That F-Bomb filled one making fun of Harper singing Imagine is complete stupidity personified.

Besides, how can anyone be distressed about the f-word, when Harper mutilated John Lennon's magnificent song "Imagine"?!

Furthermore, how can any self-respecting woman support a government that has slashed funding to women's groups across Canada?

LOL - Lennon was NOT my hero. He may have been yours, but he was a druggie who wrote songs. Rather common, I'd say. He was a social activist but then I am not a huge supporter of social activism causes, either.

Self-respecting woman??????? Give it a break, fercrissake. How about you go give your paycheque to those causes you support and leave the rest of us out of your causes? Why does government have to be responsible for all societies ills? It's not their job to cover people's *bleep*. If you support those causes, you pay for it. I'd rather support the things that are important to me instead of all these bleeding heart things that somebody wants to yelp about and ding my paycheque for.

Sometimes the Socialists just push things too far. Like now.

It wasn't the F-bomb ... although it does distress me that people today cannot express themselves better and feel the need for shock treatment to get their point across - if they even have a point to make. (which I seriously doubt)

I just find it both sad and disgusting that the people in those videos are such social programmers. They have no concept of where the money will have to come from to pay for all that stuff they demand ... and in the end they will only be hurting themselves most - but they don't even have the brains to see that.

Disgraced the memory of John Lennon? hahahaha

He did a pretty good job of disgracing himself while he was alive. All fine and dandy to incite "new thinking" when he is a multi-millionaire who was spouting about social reform but where's all his philanthropy? Where's all his good works and where's the millions he personally donated to social causes? Nah ... he just expected governments to pay for it all while he played with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Tibet and spawned a new generation of dope-smoking hippies out to save the freaking world with a huge attitude of entitlement.

When did Lennon go to Tibet? :137: As a I recall, Lennon and Yoko funded the message of their pro-peace activism themselves (not on the taxpayers' dime). The same cannot be said of Harper, when he uses $26 million in taxpayer dollars to tell us about his Economic Action Plan -- in the weeks prior to the election he didn't want called. :127:

It's insulting to the memory of John Lennon that Harper (a warmonger) would sing a song that Lennon (a pacifist) clearly intended as an anthem of peace. If you didn't understand that that's why those people are disgusted with Harper's choice in songs, then you're not paying attention. Naturally, Harper's inability to hit those notes don't help his cause.

I stand by what I said about no self-respecting woman defending a government that doesn't defend women's issues. I didn't really want to bring this up, but I feel that the Conservatives' de-funding of Sisters in Spirit is yet another example of the racist undertones of the ultra-right wing elements within the party. The same pro-big-oil, ultra-right wing elements that don't seem to give a damn that toxins from the tar sands' "contained" tailings ponds are poisoning the groundwater of Aboriginal communities. But, hey, let's have some election humour:

LOL. I guess a thread entitled "Election Humour" is just another translation of the words "Bash Harper" for some.

of course you do - lefties never apologize no matter how offensive or ill-conceived their comments. The biggest threat to "feminism" in today's world isn't Stephen Harper, it's people like you that still want to place politics above women working together, and thus feeling the need to marginalize and polarize millions of women in Canada, just because they aren't government trough-suckers like you. By insulting them by saying they have no self-respect, all you are doing is saying that all of these Conservative women are "less than" women like you, and that's just a giant load of garbage. It's this kind of elitest "I'm better than you" crap from the leftist self-proclaimed feminist movement that have driven real feminists out of your movement. Get your head out of our self-righteous butt and wake up - there are a lot of talented women who have loads of self-respect, who are much better feminists than you will ever be, that you are alienating with this garbage attitude.

BTW - this is completely unsubstantiated. Greenpreach has been promoting a "study" from a doctor that showed higher than average cancer rates in natives in Fort Chipewyan Alberta. While this "study" has been shown to be a fraud, after the doctor revealed he had fudged the results, this hasn't stopped Greenpeace shills from trumpeting this phony data, or stopped enviro-nuts from posting this tomfoolery, the more extreme ones even playing the "race" card which is the ultimate shame for them. The ground is full of toxins - they are called "oil sands". Whether they are mined or not, the water will suffer contamination. This has been documented for hundreds of years in that area. Of course, the nuts would like everyone to believe that water contamination never happened before mining occurred, and that the oil trapped in the sand magically just stayed there forever without any natural leaching, but what's a few lies here and there if the overall result is "good" - loss of thousands of jobs and the Canadian economy tanking. That's what is really important to you guys right?

This is a HUMOUR thread, let's keep it that way

Born in Alberta, a cowboy named Rich was overseeing his herd in a remote
mountainous pasture in Ottawa Valley when suddenly on the
dirt road a new BMW advanced out of a dust cloud towards him.

The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes,
Ray-Ban sunglasses and YSL tie, leans out the window
and asks the Ottawa Valley cowboy, 'If I tell you exactly how many
cows and calves you have in your herd, Will you give
me a calf?'

Rich looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks
at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers,
'Sure, Why not?'

The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook
computer, connects it to his Bell mobility cell
phone, and surfs to a Canadian Government page on the Internet, where
he calls up a GPS satellite to get an exact fix on his
location which he then feeds to another Governement satellite
that scans the area in an ultra high resolution photo.

The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe
Photoshop and exports it to an image processing
facility in Hamburg , Germany

Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot
that the image has been processed and the data stored.
He then accesses an MS-SQL database through an ODBC
connected Excel spreadsheet with email on his RIM Blackberry
and, after a few minutes, receives a response.

Finally, he prints out a full color, 150 page report on
his hi-tech, miniaturized HP Laser-Jet printer and
finally turns to the cowboy and says, 'You have exactly
1,586 cows and calves.'

'That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my calves,'
/says Rich.

He watches the young man select one of the animals and
looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the
trunk of his car.

Then the Rich says to the young man, 'Hey, if I can tell you
exactly what your business is, will you give me back my calf?'

The young man thinks about it for a second and then says,
'Okay, why not?'

'You're a Conservative Member of Parliament,' says Rich.

'Wow! That's correct,' says the yuppie, 'but how did you
guess that?'

'No guessing required,' answered the cowboy. 'Your born in Ottawa Ontario.
You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get
paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked. You
tried to show me how much smarter than me you are; and you
don't know a thing about cows... This is a herd of sheep.

Now give me back my dog.
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?
Apparently "Robin Hood All Purpose" was the wrong answer!

:dyinglaughing:

I'll believe that you actually mean this when I don't see you complaining about your finances online, because it sure sounds as if you're asking for someone to pay your way for you with all your "woe-is-me-how-will-I-come-up-with-the-money-to-pay-for-the-latest-calamity-to-hit-me" crap. You may not be asking for a government handout, but you sure seem to begging for charity. Why not learn to be responsible for your own finances? Stop smoking and you might be to pay the entire fine when a cop tickets you. Paying such a fine is your responsibility, and I can't believe you pleaded with the judge to show you his bleeding heart...

Admittedly, I am being harsh, but you need to realize how ridiculous your accusations about those who appreciate government programs for the needy sound in light of many of your posts on the Castanet forums.

Now, back to Canadian/election humour:
