Holey smokes onestop67 - no need to light your hair on fire! It's clear from a previous post that your are a Dan supporter - I'm don't happen to lean that way at this point. Let me add some clarity to my question for Dan. Although I am fully aware that one member of council can't change a vote - I do know that a good leader can rally support around a cause in which they believe. If Dan felt the cause was worthy, there is much more that he could have done beyond raising his hand in opposition to the rest at the council table. Unless Dan can convince us otherwise, the natural conclusion is that the issue simply wasn't very important to him during the past 4 years, and he's only taking it up now to try to gain what he perceives to be a political advantage.

I'm not a Dan supporter. Although he is on my short list.

I just found it funny how you seem to blame him for city issues that are decided by 9 people, not just him.

I don't have the opportunity to vote in this election because I live in Kelowna. (I have friends and family voting in Penticton though). I have worked with local government agencies throughout the valley and have had the opportunity to work on government projects with Dan Ashton and many others running in civic elections. I have been quietly observing the Mayor's race in Penticton, and am thrilled to see Dan Ashton throw his hat into the ring because he would be a fantastic Mayor for Penticton.

I am reading a lot of discussion about issues of importance to Penticton. Making your decision based on issues as hand is important obviously when thinking about the future of your community however, there's one equally important component that is missing in these debates though and to me it comes back to the definition of a leader.

A leader is someone who inspires people to work with them to achieve a common goal. They are not necessarily a resident expert in everything (and would never profess to be), but they are motivated without ego to do what's best. They surround themselves with people who want to work hard with them, and they exercise thoughtful judgement based on information at hand and try their best to inspire action and change.

Dan Ashton is the best choice for Penticton Mayor based on experience, and leadership qualities. He cares about the community and he follows through on his commitments. He's a tireless advocate for the Penticton area, is a great listener, and he really cares.

Please think of what defines a leader when you vote for Mayor of Penticton and cast your vote for Dan Ashton! He can't solve every problem but he will give Penticton 100+% of his effort every day trying!
