Wii

Post by Graham Adder »

I'm new to the whole Wii 'thing', but recently got one (so much for needing to be good for Santa to fill the wishlist) after a good while of watching the trend. Seems they're here to stay for a few more blips on the graph.

I recently got the Wii fit plus (Costco had a coupon dealio one day when all we went in for was some basic food staples).

I'm actually enjoying it so far. I'm told by exercise aficionados that this doesn't monitor form and such as well as proper fitness instructors and being taught by a certified fitness freak.

I'm not into that. I'm sure my legal guardian will keep me aware of my form and give me the guidance needed...whether I like it or not. :137:

To be honest, I prefer to let my flab flap in the privacy of my own livingroom when nobody but myself has to listen to my pathetic panting/weazing and excessive sweating and groaning.

I get exercise in my daily routine and weekend outings, but it wasn't enough to keep my weight where I want it, nor my fitness level maintained for those weekend climbs and treks.

This silly gadget at least has me running on the spot, pretending to cycle, doing some strength exercises and playing some games that involve more than sitting in a slouch while wiggling my thumbs to make my character move.

I've only had it a short time, and have already seen signs of improvement. I don't expect miracles and I also know that it's entirely up to me to keep the activity level up, but chasing down pretend people and biking around fake islands and flapping my 'wings' like a DOH-DOH bird is kinda fun, and keeps my mind of what I'm really doing...getting some exercise into my day.

Anyone else brave enough to admit they've fallen for being a cartoon character and happy to be a part of the fake world where the sky is always blue and the other active characters are always smiling?

I dig the smiles...I wish the real world was so encouraging.

Now if I could just figure out a way to get my dog into this...running with a cat doesn't seem right to me, but that's what they gave me for a jogging partner.

Whoa there, careful about the cats. Unbecoming to a cat's dignity to be a "jogging" partner, someone obviously indulged in some green stuff and said, "heyyyyyyy, you know what would be fuunnnyyy....pass a Dorito." Come on, cats don't like exercise and will gladly direct you to the doggie section of the SPCA should your dog decide to sit out your Wii too.

All the elderly folk at Sandelwood and the Dorchester love their Wii too. They've formed bowling leagues and other Wii clubs, heck, even at the Kiwana's Towers.

I could get a Wii due to your inspiring impassioned boosterism of the product, however, the history of heaven help me exercise mechanisms in this house sit legion and act as a mute protest to their lack of usage. Golf clubs, bikes, and running shoes (now there is an oxymoron in this house) pale beside my xc skiis and my fav trendy item, roller blades. Who needs them when you have a metal detector and a garden.

Keep us posted on your ever decreasing flab and burgeoning six pack...before and after pics?

If I could only figure out how to beat Mrs. Fixer at ski jumping. She has takin' over the top nine, she left me in tenth to give me hope. Hmmm. My fav is frisbee golf on the resort sports game, I can play with a beer in my hand.

You make it sound so fun. I have a wii as well and was wondering about the Wii fit. Well you sold me on it. My bday is coming up so I now know what I want. What did it all come with. Oh, and if you are looking for a "sit down old school game" Mairo brothers is fun!! It has the old mixed in with the new and brings back memories. Thank-you for your opinion on it!! PS I bet you make a fabulous bird!

I have one. If only I could hack mine and get it to play all the awesome games you can download for free. I'm too cheap to pay for them.

What about Piratebay? I am new to it, but I got Zuma for my computer there. Remember the good old days when you could copy games. (I would "NEVER" do this but I heard of people doing it) :sunshine:

Beer in hand?
:runforlife: <running for Wii resort sports>

Keesa, I know what you mean about dust collectors (exercise equipment).
That's part of why I had to see this Wii thing in actions for a bit before biting in.
It's the mix of interaction and playing a 'game' that keeps me on it thus far.
I never liked the gym, and honestly don't ride my bike in crap weather and I don't get out running through the jungle enough, so this is a space filler for my many varied excuses for not playing outdoors like I should.

In reference to the b4 and after pics...not a chance in hell. :dyinglaughing:

I've also got a game called party games. It's got horse shoes like in grandpa's backyard and lawn darts, the old school ones. Perfect beer in hand games.

AWWWW, all us ladies were hoping our significant others could get inspired by our obvious admiration of physical fitness, taut muscles and tight fitting what nots inspired by cartoon jogging on Wii.

Not willing to make yourself the poster boy for Wii magic?

It's a Wii game?

I must get...of course pitchin' shoes, tossing darts and gobbling pork rinds and swilling suds is not going to be very conducive to my 'getting healthy' routine. Must find way to work off beer and rinds on top of regular fitness program...man...I'm gonna be on this Wii thing for hours a day.

My friend just picked up a copy of the EA Sports Active for the Wii; apparently it is the best workout available in the Wii games. She had originally wanted the Wii Fit, but after doing some research ended up with this instead - will let you know how she finds it.

I can see the beer budget needing to be adjusted.
I had hopes of losing some...now I just hope I can afford all the drinking I'm gonna do.
