Is this sensitive skin?
I have a problem where after I go skiing on any day where the temperature is in the negatives, my skin specifically on my chin starts to dry up, and peel over the next few days. It's really annoying and a little gross but it's something I've come to get used to over time. I have friends who get it sometimes but I get it every single time. Having been up just about 30 times this season you can imagine the annoyance. The only way of preventing it is by covering up which I hate to do because 1. I love the feeling of the cold wind on my face and 2. I don't have a tonne of money to spend on goggles with fans inside to keep them from fogging, as blocking your breathing off sends warm air up and hits the goggles.
I was wondering if anyone else have encountered this and/or have remedied it. I really don't want to have to use any moisturizing lotion or any of that junk like Keri... not sure I trust that stuff.

my solution to just about anything is bag balm. you can find it at Buckerfields in the horse/cow supplies. no i'm not crazy. it's made for chapped teats. lol but it works wonders on human skin. i would bet using it just once after you finish skiing would stop the problem in it's tracks. it would take just a tiny bit.

Sounds like wind burn to me. Use some good ol Vaseline or Glaxall plus UV protection and that should help..........I know you don't want to but just try it....lol.

Third time somebody has mentioned Bag Balm... I'm going to try that next season. Did a little Google search and although it used to contain Mercury it doesn't appear to anymore. Was hoping for a mostly natural method but this will have to do. Thankyou.

More natural eh? Well is that skin that is peeling off old skin by any chance? That would mean the cold, dry air is just helping it along and it was supposed to be off anyway (you would have nice fresh skin underneath vs raw red and sore skin). If that is the case, time to really scrub probably and make sure you are removing it every day.
If it's that your skin is super dry and you don't want to use a moisturizer (which would be your best defence and it doesn't have to be greasy stuff at all...just ask most females you know as they can tell you which ones work without looking like you've been bobbing for butter) you might add some fat/oils to your diet. Just taking some essential oil caps helps skin a lot to keep it's moisture from the inside out.

It's certainly not dry skin. My skins quite oily.
