No problem with a light. If there are no businesses over there, nobody will be going there. No problem.

Unfortunatly is that if your on the channel then a car comes down green ave...then they hit the interection...strait through or turning left they will trigger the light and it will make you stop on the channel so they can turn left instead of if the road is clear now you can turn left at any time.

If I were a betting man, any lights placed at that new intersection will be inactive until there is a traffic need to turn west onto the reserve lands. I would actually be somewhat happy to see some positive development....like a major hotel....on those lands, but my guts tell me that for the near future this bridge is nothing more than a token appeasement of a long standing PIB *bleep* that amounts to "build it and they will come". Essentially a bridge to nowhere for the next 3 to 5 yrs anyway. Maybe even longer but hey, at least it was built in 2015 dollars.
Let's be real here. At this point in construction of the crossing, if there were any confirmed developers for this land, there would be several billboards saying "Opening soon".
Chit like this only happens when the cost of capital is paid by someone else. I leave it to the reader to determine who "someone else" is.

I agree TwoBits but would it not be prudent, if you were operating on a limited budget to take things slowly?

It would be like saving money to buy a nice car. Let's say someone lent you a pile of money to build a garage for it? Sure you don't have the car yet, but at least you are ready for when the time comes lol.

Let's be realistic though. The truth is nothing is going on that side of the channel until more than just a bridge is produced. There needs to be roads, proper drainage, just to name a couple of things. They could be ready to hit the ground running once they have all that, but I doubt it. I don't think any of us want to see a bunch of little strip malls, so the first thing that goes there I believe, will be big, like a hotel. Look at all of the empty retail space on this side of the channel. Can anyone tell me what the heck is going in that development at the corner of Skaha and Yorkton? I thought I would have seen a sign by now.

There are signs there. They say "For Lease". Looks like somebody built it, but nobody has come yet. I don't know what they were thinking when the relatively recent C Center commercial retail development that was there was a complete failure and was just bulldozed to decrease the assessed property value and lessen the property tax bill.

Ya typical cart before the horse Penticton. I've lived in that end for 20+ years and it's been one failure after another in that spot. Mind you the new influx of senior housing and low cost multi family should make it interesting in 2-3 years.
