It is a very bad choice for first nation people to do this to non natives.lakevixen wrote: what goes around comes around, even though i feel bad for the trailer owners and think its a bad choice for the first nation people to do to non natives, i can understand why they do it
No wonder alot of people dislike first native people.
They are bringing this dislike upon themselves.

Your perception of a racist edge is simply because the situation of dealing with native land leases is unique. The fact that this is referenced over and over doesn't make it racist. It is just a case of saying that it is different and results in totally different rights and obligations which are heavily weighted towards the landlord instead of the tenant.
Saying that this is a reality is not racist.
saying it's racist could also be because they are a gay couple

Re: Facing eviction on wfn
My problem is the "Fund ME" requests that seem to be the norm these days. There was a time when this helped destitute people that really required funding when no other help was available. Years ago we adopted a baby that turned out to be in need of so much special help that it destroyed my marriage as my spouse walked into the bottle. There was no help and even the BC government that gave us this "normal" baby stated that my only hope was to go to Kinsmen, etc. " Too bad that you adopted him, but the only way we can rescind the adoption would be if you abuse him" (Like who in the world would do that?) and they couldn't make him a permanent foster child (they would then be responsible for all the extra medical expenses that I couldn't afford) as they couldn't return him to an abusive parent (as if I would hurt him!!). I found a way myself to try and get the funds needed to help him.Randall T wrote:This issue appears to be taking a racist edge which is wrong. Regardless of who the owner of the land is, the lots are being rented and what the tenant places on them becomes depreciating personal assets. If the rights to use the lots were purchased under a registered Federal lease, then that would be a whole different scenario which doesn't appear to be the case here. These folks apparently wanted a lakefront home without the costs involved in purchasing a titled property. The downside of that is they have no more, and possibly less, rights than if they were renting an apartment. The house and garage only have material value if they can be removed from the rented property and used or sold. I can sense their grief and frustration, but they either failed to exercise due diligence at the time of the purchase and rental agreement, or they just wanted to live on the lake for cheap and take their chances. At this point, trying to raise money from the public to get themselves out of this mess just does not seem honourable as they are victims of their own initial actions.
I'm definitely not an expert on these types of dealings, but this is my take on it.
Today, every person that wants to can ask for money and I am amazed at the number of people that donate to some of the silliest causes. I just saw one asking to help fund a vacation! To each their own, but come on, these people can afford to winter in the south in what appears to be a motorhome that is proably worth a couple hundred thousand minimum new. You want me to help you fight your fight?
There are so many others that have had to deal with the WBFN, there are some straight park owners and others are not so honourable. You have to investigate...that is your responsibility. Ask around, there are enough "horror" stories to let you know which parks to avoid. Jubilee has had some "odd" rules going back as far as the 90's in my opinion and I had first hand knowledge back then.

About 20 yrs ago I bought in Pineridge Park. Cash. What a nightmare! Federal Government saids it's Provincial Government's problem & via versa. Walked away owing money. Should be a law that informs everyone the true facts & risks with buying on Native Land Realtors especially! After you pay your lawyer & the taxes on this so called Native land & told you cannot go to the media..... It would hurt the current mobile home owners but a MANDATORY RISK FORM should be mandatory on a sale of the MFH being sold.

Sorry, but "white man" should not have to pay forever and forever.lakevixen wrote: i see , but who drew first blood to paraphrase rambo?
I know you feel they should and that is why there is even more dislike.
What the natives are doing in this case is nasty and it will reflect on them.

Looking deeper into this situation brings up the possibility of eviction because they are gay!!! Did they possibly come out of the closet in the last year????chapjuan wrote:

I hate to think that could be the reason but I think it's possible...

This is so true!!! BUT CANADA ALLOWS THIS TO HAPPEN..........SAME AS ALL OUR ANCESTORS THAT FOUGHT & DIED FOR THIS COUNTRY & NOW CANADA IS GIVING IT AWAY. Face it, OUR PEOPLE DIED FOR NOTHING! There were Natives that also fought in the war. I have good Native friends but they do have more opportunities than we do & Immirgrant's coming in & getting more pentions???? So sad, our war hero's must be rolling in their graves. To boot, the ones were letting into this country are trying to kill us all. IT'S TIME CANADA TAKES A STAND SO WE ARE ALL EQUALL AS THEY SAY WE ARE!!! FREE MY *bleep*!!!the truth wrote:to lakevixen

Re: Facing eviction on wfn
no you are wrong it is NATIVES doing this as do they do to all of us on this reserve , they wonder why so many people have no compassion
and this post might be why they do it if they do at all. the question i have is why risk your money by even moving there in first place? i bought a place there fixed it up , and sold it easily. i could see how it could turn out long term , as in i heard stories of peoples places being taken over , true or not was enough to not stay long

BACK. ON. TOPIC. NOW. The thread is about 2 people losing their home - it's not about what happened eons ago.
Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.
