I'd like to thank the helicopter pilots and fire crews that came from all over the valley to do battle with this fire. Although still not quite dead, it's out on this front. The RCMP and Auxiliary Members also need to be recognized for their efforts as well.
My Wife, cats and I are back in our home on Brent Rd. due to their tireless efforts. :130:

I'm assuming that big cloud of smoke all of a sudden is from the burn off operations?

I can't tell from here on OKM park, but is that a large cumulus cloud to my west over Peachland? Or is that fire related

I believe those are in fact clouds forming to the west.

We were out on the water when they did this, quite the mushroom cloud that formed.

Calmer conditions on Sunday is why a planned ignition took place sending a massive plume of smoke high into the sky.

An ignition device called plastic spherical dispenser dropped fire balls onto a 150 hectares patch between two wildfires in Peachland to merge them into one.

“We wanted to get his done today before we got into that hotter, drier weather system,” said Burgess.

Fires are officially merged.

This is a very good sign and a way to battle the fire far more effectively.
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

Literally fighting fire with fire.

The BC Wildfire Service says that the task was successful, so here's hoping that the winds cooperate this week.

Is the smoke to the south right now coming from this one?

This smoke looks darker than the haze.

The planes were dousing the fire South of Squally Point. Hopefully they now have it stopped there.
