It just makes us want to jump up and emigrate to Afghanistan.

By all means go and enjoy.

Vast majority of people tend to take things totally out context when reading either the Quran or the Bible. Use it to push through there own agenda.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests. I am an old cantankerousness grump that happens to be very opinionated.

You equate Taliban with Islam?
Why?

Don't emigrate to Indonesia either.
Islam is partially based on the Judeo-Christian religions. It has a monotheistic (belief in one God) message, and follows some of the same principles as Christianity and Judaism.

The followers of Islam, Muslims, believe in one God, Allah, and believe Muhammad was his prophet. They also believe Adam, of the Bible’s Old Testament, was the first prophet.

Other prophets include Abraham, Moses, Noah, David and Jesus.

Indonesia has the largest following of the Islamic religion - 12.6%.

Equating the Taliban to Islam is like equating Westboro Baptist Church to Christianity.

I would trust a practicing Muslim before a practicing Christian in most interactions. My experience with them has been nothing but positive. I think the title of the thread is a bit off. Wackos in every religion. The extremists like the taliban are no different in being extremist in principle than some extremist born again whatever Christian groups I've encountered. Al qaeda, taliban etc are really bleeping crazy and heavily armed of course.
Some may view my politically incorrect opinions as harsh and may be offended by them. Some think political correctness will be our undoing.

"What are the beliefs of the Taliban group?

The group’s ideological foundation revolves around the strict interpretation and enforcement of Sharia Law, which does not honor politics or political parties. The Taliban believes that the world is divided into infidels and believers or followers of the Islamic faith."
