If you have 30 min to spare here is a very informative vid...
The gases shown looks eerily like the smoke seen in that Luton car park fire last year that they are trying to blame the fire on a diesel vehicle, but last time I saw a diesel fire it emitted black sooty smoke

That's enough to keep me from ever buying one these experiments. I'll keep my ICE thank you very much.hozzle wrote: Feb 3rd, 2024, 4:53 pm If you have 30 min to spare here is a very informative vid...

This only touches on the dangerous aspect of these cars. Cars that are being shoved down our throats under the guise of being "green" when in reality they are anything but.
Factor in all the mining of minerals required to build an EV, and the equipment required to do so that's running, and one quickly sees what a scam this is.

Every fire department and engineer/architect needs to watch this video.hozzle wrote: Feb 3rd, 2024, 4:53 pm If you have 30 min to spare here is a very informative vid...

Battery users also need to watch this, to know when a battery is about to rapidly burn or explode.
.
I don’t understand why BC ferries allows them aboard, nor why they’re allowed inside buildings! These rapid and intense battery fires can’t be extinguished. The odds of EV fires will continue to increase.
.
Maybe sometime in future safer battery technology will come, but we’re not there yet!

But ICEV fires are just as bad right? Funny how the government safety police don't seem to care about the dangers of EV batteries. Instead, they want to mandate chargers in residential buildings.

Knowing this, how on earth can our government actively promote home charging?

People are confusing cheap little personal transport devices with cars. There is no relationship to what little regulatory oversight there is with these things in comparison to cars. Other than looking for csa or cUL which can be easily counterfeited. Slap a sticker on and call it certified. There's not much we can do. Tell your federal government of whatever political stripe you like to be far more rigourous about imports and policing those certification stickers.

People who watched the video are not confused, though. He was pretty specific about batteries in cars being parked in parking garages, and batteries used to bank electricity in buildings.

Clearly you choose not to be concerned, when a scientist specializing in that specific area, states flat out that lithium batteries should never have been manufactured, due to their instability.LovemyBolt wrote: Feb 4th, 2024, 4:13 pm People are confusing cheap little personal transport devices with cars. You have no concern about being inside a confined space that can turn into a Roman candle burning at around 3000 degrees? Then again between the heat, and the dangerous vapour cloud, you'd be toast in seconds anyway.

I've expressed here that I am concerned about cheap unregulated imports of personal transport devices. I am not concerned about EV cars due to all the regulatory oversight.Urban Cowboy wrote: Feb 4th, 2024, 4:40 pm

I have more confidence with familiar brands putting out products.

I'd be more concerned about what professional firefighters, and scientists, far more educated than you on the subject, have to say.LovemyBolt wrote: Feb 4th, 2024, 4:59 pmI've expressed here that I am concerned about cheap unregulated imports of personal transport devices. If there was nothing to be concerned about, I'd find it odd that car storage facilities, and towing yards, have had to create special bays for these fire hazards to be parked in.

Fine. What they don't talk about is the rarity of EV car fires. I'm certainly understanding of the concerns over personal transport devices. No one removes their small rechargeable battery from a car and plugs it in in the one point of exit in their home.Urban Cowboy wrote: Feb 4th, 2024, 5:05 pm

Re: EV Battery Fires Not Really A Thing
In the US there are 500 or 600 gasoline vehicles fires per day, and a tiny fraction of EV fires.
The media does not report on the ICE fires, but the EV fires get reported almost every time they happen.
When you balance the two types for miles driven, it works out that EV's are far less prone to fire.
Google it yourself there are tons of real statistics being analyzed. Especially by the insurance companies.

Might want to check out firehouse.com if you have questions as to why EV fires get more attention.I Think wrote: Feb 9th, 2024, 8:19 am In the US there are 500 or 600 gasoline vehicles fires per day, and a tiny fraction of EV fires.

Here's a hint............
Now remember that government wants to force everyone into EV's, so for starters number of fires reported has a direct relationship to how many vehicles of that type are on the roads.Further, the temperatures of fires that involve internal combustion engines can reach 1,500 degrees F; temperatures of fires that involve EVs can reach 4,500 degrees F and hotter. The temperature of an EV fire is a major concern for parking garages.
EV's are so far just a small portion of vehicles on roadways, but governments want them all to be EV's.
You'd also do well to understand that most ICE fires get extinquished, often times before fire personnel even respond, whereas EV fires are next to impossible for even professionals to put out easily. Then even if they do, they are known to start up again at a later time, this being the reason towing yards have to implement the use of special bays just for EV's.
